I don't care for Zumbo's song and dance routine. I will continue to not care for it until I see him recant what he has said, speak out against HR1022 and publicly declare his support of the 2A in its original intent. Then I might start caring the least bit about what he thinks, or does. I don't care how many of Nuge's EBRs he shoots in his pathetic Emergency PR campaign.
I like the self depracating humor I see in this photo. Something tells me Zumbo will be smiling and posing with alot of ARs at the outdoor shows from now on.
Wonder if Jimbo's having any fun learning (unlearning?) about such things?
I also wonder if he'll have the chance to shoot one w/ a .458 SOCOM upper, scoped, capable of taking down a deer or bear sized critter at a goodly distance w/ one shot accuracy?
I kinda like the idea of a mighty Bwana shooting a pink zebra thing...
Start watching him. You can bet that this is the beginning of a PR-ish campaign. I'm not criticizing him or supporting him, mind you. But if I were running his recovery campaign I would (in order):
1. Get some good photo op pictures with EBRs.
2. Get some good photo op pictures with firearms celebrities (Nuge?)
3. Make these pictures available on the web.
4. Write an article regarding this event and get it as widely published as possible.
5. Send out press releases regarding the event and a subsequent change in attitude.
6. Get very involved in 2nd Amendment legal defense, and again.. make it very public via articles and press releases.
Give that a year, and he will re-create himself as a hero of the cause. People have very short memories, and those that do tend to forgive easier than you think. There will always be those that will never forgive him (I haven't decided if I am one of those yet.)-- but largely, he would find himself back in the majorities' good graces and tolerated by his detractors.
I don't see a lot wrong with it - we NEED this sorta story. Yeah, he was clueless. We ALL know that. But he's willing to learn. THAT IS MAJOR.
Forgive him for what he said - because it is the same CRAP that most of America sees on TV every time they turn on the idiot box. Okay? More than a few of you guys have been caught repeating various media-messages... RIGHT? RIGHT?
Anyone else think it's funny that he is using a Duracoated rifle (generically speaking-- not Duracoat in particular) when Mayor Bloomberg is trying to stop people from being able to custom paint rifles?
John
Edit: That HAS to be Ted Nugent's AR. I can't think of many people that has a pink tiger-stripped AR-- and Ted Nugent seems they kind of person that would.
Jim Zumbo is being used as the poster boy for the Antis.
The more pictures of him with EBRs(or EPRs ) the better. The more articles he writes about the pro-2A folks the better. The more appearances he makes explaining his ignorance and new found enlightenment the better. The harder he works for OUR side the better for ALL shooters.
So now we have the first pictures with the type of guns he said had no legitimate sporting purpose. We need the articles and appearances.
I guess it's easy for us to understand why politicians, actors, etc. get off the hook when they reveal their true natures. A little "mea culpa," a few photo ops, and some people to say "he/she was an idiot but he's reformed" and they are back in the good graces of the public.
These photos might have meant something before he went into "got to save my career and lifestyle mode." Now, they seem to have too much of the "look, I'm in rehab" feel to them.
