Hehe, arfin.
Can you imagine the uproar if there was a mandatory 7 day waiting period before somebody could take home that new five wood? There would be open revolt.
To my knowledge they do, at least in some/many municipalities. Michigan CPL requirements:
12. Have not been convicted of one of the following misdemeanors in the 8 years immediately preceding the date of application:
Operating while intoxicated, second offense, MCL 257.625(9)(b)
Now, i guess...
I guess if i felt that vulnerable/at risk by this individual, the LAST thing i would have done would be to ask him point black about it. A little bit of a disconnect, no offense intended. If i were that concerned/threatened, i'd probably have left the room and contacted the authorities...
For DEDICATED firewood splitting (and no chopping, etc), you are better off going with a good splitting maul.
The fiskars splitting axe though gets excellent reviews at all the forestry forums i frequent. I am starting to process my own firewood this year and will likely be looking at...
Hmmm... i think that only happens when you're already the governor, shoot a coyote, and, most importantly, it happens in texas. Don't think he got job offers over it, just some positive press (which is like crack to a politician)
Ruger True Texan Story
only other point to add:
I hate to leave my gun in my car but there have been a instances (Post-office, schools, etc) where i have to leave it in the car. I don't have a dedicated car safe and maybe i'm a bad person for that but if i am in a situation where i may need to leave my gun, i will...
Well... i think the key word in this sentence is "good". From your later description, i can say that you have a LOT more experience with knife-making and probably general knife knowledge than I do and i'll defer to that. That being said, for that much steel and knife, i would think you'd have...
+1 to what everybody has said to far... especially on getting some security cameras up, etc.
Here's one other thing i have done... and i'll be interested to see if people think this is a bad idea or inflammatory.
In our last house on a slow, small street, we'd occasionally have the same...
Doesn't NJ have a law making hollow point ammo illegal? On top of the potential headaches with FOPA regardless, would FOPA provide any help with HP ammo or would the presence of the illegal ammo pre-empt any other issues and screw you?
(as in, even if you're just passing through, if they...
thanks for the heads up, HSO.
Picked up a leek for fun (never had one... maybe cycle into EDC but has some big "mini grip" shoes to fill in order to do that)
Will shamefully admit i grabbed a $22 chive in... uh.... "light red" for the wife who's finally starting to come around to EDC (but...
Congrats, sounds like a sweet gig.
+ 1 on the ESEE series.
Only other thought/recommendation would be to get a good, heavy duty multi tool to have in addition to the FB. Something like the Wave/Surge etc.
Not sure what else they'll issue you but a good flashlight will likely come in...
i know the SF's are pricey but there's one to consider: the E1B.
Has dual output... with the bright being pretty ridiculously bright but the lower setting giving you excellent battery time (35+ hrs at 5 lumens). The clip is much nicer than any of the other small surefires i've had.
i found...
have you checked out any of Valkman's fighters?
here's a thread from a group buy he did awhile back.
This is his website. probably just above the $200 but you also said $ is no issue.
I ended up going with a 5" version of the fighter... that was all the blade i figure i needed.
aside...
go ahead and pull the trigger. what you'd consider "beating the crap out out of a knife" is something one of don's knives calls "tuesday". really... you can have the tool and it can look good, too.
i'm a huge fan of the Benchmade Mini-griptilian. Axis lock is darn near nuke proof.
Not sure how "beefy" the handle is but i've never had an issue with it.
For a smallish fixed (as stated- not sure how small this means), this may be a little bit of a stretch. Yes, it's possible. But i guess there's 2 schools of thought on this:
1) Get a really cheap knife b/c you'll be beating on it and you don't want to trash a nice one.
2) get a really nice/$...
