All of the LWRC's that I've handled and shot have been really well-fitted and the finish has been incredible, especially for what you'd expect from an AR.
I WANT to like the POF rifles but the majority of the ones that I've messed with have had a poor fit between upper and lower and, while this...
Sam1911 pretty well covered it.
Too many people want to default to a gun for self-defense just because it's "cool" (whether they consciously think it or not).
Situational awareness is the first thing to cultivate along with physical fitness. Some decent martial arts training doesn't...
I doubt that there's a whole lot of use of suppressed .45 ACP pistols, despite what movies might depict and military fanboys suggest. Long guns rule the roost for everything.
I'll second Collector's Firearms in Houston. Nice selection, lots of books and historical stuff. Prices are high but they will negotiate and, if you know the true value of things, you'll generally get it for a fair price.
I'll also second Whittaker's in Owensboro, KY. Great place and it is...
I have an older Remington Model 7 with three mounting holes. Does anyone make a mount that will work with this carbine so that I can attach a scope in QD rings and use the irons without having to take the mount off?
I'll plink with a 1 in 9" DI gun and do any training or competition with it and likely keep the LMT in a different role. With the accuracy that I got from casually shooting the 75gr BTHP, I'll probably go ahead and go out to 100 yards and beyond and try and see what I can get. I am thinking...
Well...it wasn't the equipment or me, it was the ammo.
Worked up from 62gr FMJ to 75gr BTHP and saw marked tightening of the groups. The 62gr was actually noticeably better than the 55gr FMJ. 69gr BTHP was pretty good but still not grouping like I thought it should. Finally, the Hornady...
OK...just throwing this out.
I have a LMT MRP CQB with 16" barrel, 1 in 7" twist, piston instead of DI. I have mounted a Nightforce 2.5-10x24 on it in a Larue mount. I am trying to zero it, initially at 50 yards. I'm stuck at that range because I can't get any consistent accuracy out of it...
Found a few SPS R700's on clearance for $397 today, including one that I have some interest in. From what I've seen online, this is a smokin' deal. Should I "pull the trigger"?
Don't have a copy of the Blue Book around and haven't found a lot online. What's the current value of a Remington 541-S? I've seen some on GB with "buy it now" prices as high as $1200 and with starting prices at $800+ but there are no bids or buyers. What's a realistic price for one in 98%+...
Look at custom gunsmiths and manufacturers. Do a variety so that varied interests would be covered. Look at rifles and handguns and their applications. Hunting, civilian defense, law enforcement, military.
Not gonna talk you DOWN. What you need to do is go the other way. Get a FULL CUSTOM 1911 done the way you want it. Shop around and you can get a complete custom from a good gunsmith for the price of a semi-custom, though your wait time will likely be longer.
