The newest Gen4 17s seem to be fixed. There's another forum that begins with the letters m and 4 that is compiling a list of Gen4 17 stats. So far it looks like newer Gen4s are good to go. I have one that I bought in late July and I've put 3,000 rounds through it and it has been flawless. I...
I have a G27! Love it and carry it. I shot 100 rounds of my carry ammo (Speer mostly) last week and man that thing is a little hand cannon! I can shoot it almost as well as the larger Glocks.
A Glock 27 in .40 is surprisingly accurate:
Glock 27 230 Yards
Since you already have a 1911 I'd get a Glock in .45 ACP. There are some pretty hot near 10mm level
.45 ACP loads out there.

Here's a link to a discussion and PDF on M193.
Doesn't look like a bigger wound cavity compared to the above.

I was thinking of picking up a .30 Carbine, mainly just for fun and possibly
defense if ever needed. I hear a lot of Internet chatter about the .30 Carbine
being an ineffective round and it's better to go with the .223/5.56 (hereafter called 5.56).
Although I can see why for long ranges past...
Glock 27. I love mine. It's a small gun that shoots like a big gun.
I even like it and shoot it better then my CZ 75B in .40. And that's a big heavy gun.
If you really want a hand gun, you want only one and you have little experience. I would go with a modern 9mm like a Glock. 9mm is relatively cheap to shoot, adequate for self defense, and has a mild recoil. Glock 19 would be my choice for you. Others will chime in and say their favorite...
> I honestly cannot imagine someone being unable to defend themself with 15 rounds of 9mm.
How could you possibly need 15!! Are you going up against an army or something?
Why would you need to shoot someone more then once? (end of sarcasm)
I don't think someone should decide how many rounds...
I've put 2k rounds though my CZ without cleaning before with zero problems. I've put probably 7-8k rounds through my CZ and have had few issues. In fact with the exception of one bad magazine that had an issue with the feed lips I've had zero malfunctions. I love how this guy takes of sample...
CZ 452. It's an awesome rifle. Really great iron sights. You don't even need to scope it they are
that good. It's a very fine instrument, accurate, durable, high quality all around.
This happens with my CZ 75. If you slam in a mag hard enough the slide will go forward.
I think this has only happened from going to slide lock after the last shot.
I don't think it's a big deal. I am putting in a mag so my next step would be to release the slide.
In the HV department I've used Federal, Winchester, Fiocchi and CCI without any issues.
I've ran thousands of HV rounds thru my CZ without many problems. I do have some failure
to eject problems if it gets really dirty and I don't clean it though. :-)
