I found an old Butler creek, 25round, magazine for my Ruger 10/22 that isn't working good. Its the cheap-o kind with the plastic feed lips. I would like to break it down, clean everything up and get it working, but I'm having troubles finding info on how to do that. I've searched THR, but maybe I missed something. Anybody got a link or some insight?

If you're talking about the "Hot Lips" mag, there is no breaking it down. If it doesn't work, it's likely because the feed lips are mess up or the spring has had it. In either case, they are pretty cheap. I'd just replace it.

(Holding mine in my hand as I type with one hand) I see no way to disassemble it without just cutting it in half, so if you just don't want to throw it away, use a dremel to surgically "bifurcate" it, clean it, and try to reassemble it with a strong glue and tape.

::Edit:: looking at it closer, on the bottom is a small hole. If you could get a nail or something into that hole and try to pry the two halves apart without damaging it, you could get to the internals and clean them. Then your only problem would be reassembly!

I have restored old ones by liberally spraying, soaking, and shaking common silicone lube found in hardware stores. Do not use carb cleaner or other powerful solvents because the plastic will soften and destroy the magazine
