I was at the range today shooting my 442 and after about 10 rds the cylinder quit rotating. It's practically brand new. I've had it for about 6 months but probably have less than 100 rds through it. I unloaded it and dry fired it quite a few times and nothing. Any advice before I just send to S&W?

Ck if ejector rod is tight +1 also could be unburned powder/debris under extractur star.

It just stopped rotating. The ejector rod is functioning normally. I've checked all over the cylinder and everthing looks fine. It spins very loose like normal when opened.

First, make sure the gun is unloaded, then check to see if the cylinder rotates if the gun is pointed down and does not rotate if the gun is level or pointed upward.

That indicates the hand spring is either broken or became disengaged. The former is very uncommon and the latter usually results from work on the gun by someone not familiar with the mechanism.

Since the gun is new, I don't suggest trying to fix it yourself. I would take the gun to the dealer I bought it from and either they will repair it or they will send it back to S&W.

Thanks for the reply. After some research, I think the hand spring may be the problem. I definitely don't want to take it apart since I read you can really screw things up if you're not careful. Guess it will probably be going back to S&W. I hope they don't keep it for too long though.
