Has anyone tried a Crossbreed or similar style holster with their 642? I have a Kholster (similar to a Crossbreed) for a CZ-82 and it's great. Hides the gun well, comfortable, and quick to access. Pocket carry is comfortable and hides well, but in most of my jeans the pocket opening is too small for me to access quickly. I bought a Desantis Sof-Tuck for IWB and I'm not too thrilled with it.

Personally I think a Crossbreed would be a lot of holster for a small gun. I had one for my BHP, and you're right, they are very comfortable.
When I'm not pocket carrying (which isn't often) I prefer a less-is-better type holster. This little no-name IWB works great for me. YMMV of course.

I bought it off of ebay for $10 (new) several years ago. It's very thin, rough-out leather and stays put at whatever angle you set it at. The holster doesn't stay open for reholstering, which I personally don't mind, but I do wish it was canted more "forward". I tried a similar Galco with a reinforced mouth, which I didn't like it at all.
Edited to add: I just remembered why I like this little holster so much. The clip is next to the trigger guard and not next to the cylinder, which takes away from the thickness. It's really comfortable.

One of the problems I have with the Sof-tuck is that it doesn't seem to hold the gun very securely. If I could find a thin holster that held securely but was a similar design I would seriously consider it. That's part of the reason I'm considering a Crossbreed style, your gun isn't going anywhere unless you mean to draw it.

From what I can see from photos, the Sof-tuck doesn't look to be moulded to the gun. It's a feature that makes the Mika a great pocket holster, but for an IWB / OWB model...not so much.
Take a look at the models towards the bottom of the page at http://sideguardholsters.com/holsters/IWB_Holsters.htm . The clip or snap is along the trigger guard, which tucks the gun in tight and the holsters are moulded for retention.
Just an option.

Sorry I left ammo off the list, that was the first thing I did after ordering the gun. At this time I am planning on using Buffalo Bore LSWCHP 158 gr. +P for selfdefense. I also go some non +P 158 g FMJ incase I want to shoot at a local indoor range.
My first choice is to pocket carry, I also plan on getting a IWB. I wear dress pants and a tucked in shirt and tie every day for work. I also sit in a car most of the day so I thought ankle carry would be the most concealable and accessable when in the car.

I have a Kholster for my full size Beretta PX4 Storm, it works great and is extremely comfortable. I don't have my 642 yet but thought I would try the kholster for it to, I understand that this is a smaller circle more of a cresant moon which would cut down on the size.
Anyone use a summer comfort made by Galco, they seem well made. I have a high noon holster "Bare Asset" for my Beretta, the gun is too big in my opinion for this type of IWB but it looks like it would work well for the 642. It does have a slight cant to it.

Where would I find speed strip for reloading? Gander Mountain and Cabela's do not carry them.

Good point. Ankle holsters make a lot more sense if you're driving around all day.

I looked at the Remora IWB holster, does it really stay in place? Everyone seems to say it does it just seems to good to be true. Would it also work as a pocket holster, I know everyone swears by Mika pocket holsters just thought maybe I could kill two birds with one holster.

The Remora looks interesting. Member, Erich gave it a good review here: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=541546. He's an attorney, but I try not to hold that against him.
I've used the Mika for a quick IWB at times and it worked semi-okay. I don't know about the no-clip deal though for everyday carry, or if the holster (held by compression) would cause the gun to work its way upward. But that's just my opinion.
Gotta get back to swapping out the a/c compressor on my wife's F150. Who designs this junk anyway?

Ah, yes, I understand. That makes sense.
Perhaps two holsters, then, that can both be carried: one for car, one for out of car. (?)

I know it has been covered here but I could not easily find, what is the best ankle holster? If memory serves me the Alessi Ankle Holster, Galco Ankle Glove and the Renegade Cozy Partner were all high on the list. What about the lower priced desantis ankle holster, I think I know that answer!

I saw what looked like a 642 Talo with the black and silver croc style grips today for $379 and man, it looked nice. I can't find hardly any information them. Anyone have input on it?
