ACOG scope on a Mauser action

So my son is coming back from his 3rd (hopefully last) tour in the sandbox and as a welcome home gift has requested me to try and come up with a way to mount his 3 x ACOG TA-33G with the .308 reticle he's used over there on his Yugo .308 M-63 "Tanker" (yes we know it's a marketing thing, but it's a well made and accurate carbine).

I've been leaning towards a Russian side mount like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sniper-Side-Rai...=item439d9d4c31

Has anyone tried something like this or have a better solution?

Drill and tap the action for mounts. Then put on a rail and mount it on there.

Mounting that particular scope is going to be almost impossble, because the bolt handle will travel through the space the scope needs to be to get the right eye relief. maybe a better solution would be to pick up an Ar-10.

Eye relief on an ACOG is not long enough for comfortable use on a Mauser.
