The WWG trigger runs about $90.

It is a drop-in fit, although I have heard one person say that there was a bit of sanding required to fit the part. The installation is certainly within the ability of all but the most mechanically challenged gun owners.

After installation, you can expect a very crisp trigger pull in the 2.5-3.5lb range. Mine came out a bit lighter than that... :D

The other thing it does is eliminate the "trigger flop" characteristic of the Marlin trigger design when the hammer is cocked.

The trigger on my Marlin was pretty good. I bought the WWG trigger to eliminate the "trigger flop". Now the only rifles with a better trigger in my safe are some of my high dollar German air rifles.

Loves me my Marlin...

1894C, Big 5 special (downgraded wood). A more accurate rifle than I am a rifleman. 38 Specials recoil like a 22, and are good dope for small game. With heavy bullets and hot handloads or top-grade commercial ammo, can approach mid-range 30-30 power. Holds 10 rounds. I feel like The Duke every time I shoot it.

What's not to like?

My next long gun will either be a 20 gauge SxS or a 45-70 Marlin. And then a 30-30, and then a 39A .22, and then....

haven't shot my 1894SS-LTD 44mag yet, and i'm already looking for one in 357magnum :banghead: :D  i do believe i have a new "problem"....

I only have 3.

A Winchester '94 NRA Centennial Musket in .30-30 (my 1st centerfire rifle).

A Winchester '94 in .356 Winchester (had only been fired 4 [four] times when I got it almost 2 years ago).

A Marlin 336-ER in .356 Winchester (1 of 2,024 IIRC made), which had been my Holy Grail for the last 12 years or so.

ScottsGT, I am in Lexington. I work in Columbia. Heck, I may have seen ya around. If you want a good deal and want to deal with a good guy, go see JR at Lexington Pawn and Gun. I happen to know he has a 336C in stock right now (same as mine) and I also happen to know you can get it for about $370.00. Tell him Jason sent ya and to give you a deal. ;)

Sulaco,
I was there last week and I could swear that it was a 336A I was holding. He had a price tag of $445 on it. It drives me up a wall when they put inflated prices on things and then expect you to haggle! Shooter Choice had it for $400, and honestly, I was about to go pick that one up today since the price was inline. I'll give Lex. pawn a call. Who do I talk to there?? If it is a C @ $370, they can consider it sold!!

Yep. I have a savage 99 in .308, a Marlin 336 in .35 Rem, and a Win 94 in .44 mag (bought from a member on this site). The savage wears a Weaver K6-60b scope, the .35 Rem wears a Weaver K4-60b, and the Win wears a Weaver K2.5-1 (also bought from a member here). I love them all.

Hehe I know EXACTLY what you mean, on both counts! :D

Asking me if I like Leverguns is kind of like asking if the Pope is Catholic? :D

I have several Leverguns and love them! Simple, reliable, handle well.

Cowboy Assualt Rifles!

That's the truth.

Yeah, and my favorite of my levers is a '94 .30-30 with a Lyman #2 tang sight. Regular posters probably recall many times me braggin' on this rifle. Like this last August when I shot it in a cast bullet match against Sharpses and other buffalo rifles- I came in 3rd place in standing offhand then took their money in the Quigley bucket match. And this is my main deer rifle (using 150gr SP's) too.:D

I have been drooling over cut down leverguns all weekend contemplating building a truck gun. I also just found out Marlin is making the youth model Spikehorn which is a 16.5" barrel and a shortened (12.5") LOP.

I built two truck guns from parts gathered over the internet this fall.

One has a 16 inch barrel and the other is 16 1/2.

I love the levers. Majority of gun cabinet is full of them. Everything from a Rossi to a henry, to a marlin. Several 94s as well. Need to find me a good
.44 mag lever.

Got a whole school of Marlin levers in 22, 30-30, 44Mag and 45-70
and I love all my children equally...

I have a Rossi M92 Puma in .357 that's a really nifty rifle for a lot of things and even deer under 100 yards. got a ghost ring rear sight on it, no scope. Makes it a really fun rifle that's easy to tote. Great "truck gun", too.

I'd like to start shooting levers more, but I have this thing for accuracy and long range capability. I love my M7 Remington in .308 and hunt with nothing else anymore. It combines power, range, and light weight handiness with a scope mounted.

However, I don't know how the .30-30 got the rep for being a poor shooting round. I have a friend with a pre-64 M94 in .30-30 and just plain factory cheap loads, I can shoot 2" groups with it, Lyman aperture rear sight. With a scope, I'm sure those groups would shrink! I don't know that I've ever fired an inaccurate .30-30, thinking back on it. Yet, years ago, it was "wisdom" that you HAD to have a bolt gun cause .30-30 carbines were inaccurate, never mind the number of deer that have been felled with 'em.

I wouldn't mind having a M94 in .307 Winchester. I'd hand load it with something like the Nosler ballistic tip and just carry it with one round in the mag, one up the spout. I'd basically have a .308 M94 with that gun. I'm right handed and shoot left because I'm left eye dominant. I could jack that second round in a lot faster with a lever. But, I still love that M7.

I've noticed and wondered the same about .30-30 and the reputation. It seems to me .30-30 has a much better performance and reputation than the stereotypical bolt gunners and marketing people care for. It won't die like they seem to wish it would. And while I like my .30-30 levergun very well- it fits me and shoots where I put the front sight- I also had the good fortune to pick up an older Savage .30-30 crankbolt that will run with the .308's for 100yd accuracy (based on 100yds being the longest test range I have access to).

While I've seen .307's on occassion, I'm looking- in the near future- to aquire another '94 bigbore in .375Winchester which was once considered to be the "King of Elk Cartridges". But, I've also experimented a little with spitzers in a .30-30, so I don't think it a stretch to load them in the .307Winchester.

Marlin 444P Outfitter

I have had a few levers over the years and the only one I've hung onto is my 444P Outfitter. I've had it for about two years or so and I just love it to death! Mine has the factory ported barrel, Pachmayr "old english" Decelerator pad, Ashley XS sights, and there is a Leupold M8 Scout Scope in the safe next to it waiting to be mounted by Brockman's shop (with Talley QD rings) when finances permit. I also planned for a few other minor modifications when he eventually gets it.

It is a blast to shoot and between the ports and pad, can be shot for extended periods without discomfort. I shot 80 rounds in one afternoon when I was working up a hunting load and had no issues the next day. I am still putzing around with some different loads, but I've been able to duplicate Hornady's light magnum loads in accuracy, at well under half the cost.

I would like to have a Marlin 1895 .44 mag carbine someday.

Love the Lever

Being left handed is probably part of it, but they are just downright cool. I just picked up a 1894 Marlin in .357 last week. Can't leave well enought alone so I'm putting on a ghost ring receiver sight which works better for these old eyes. My first deer rifle back in the 60's was a Marlin 336C in .35 Remington. That gun now belongs to a friend and has killed deer every year since it was new, usually with one shot.

I also have a couple Winchester 92's, a SRC in .38-40 and an octagon barrel rifle in .32-20. Also have a 1957 vintage Model 94 with a receiver sight that brought down a nice 9-pointer in Wisconsin last year. I also have a Browing BLR in .358 (a great caliber). Yea, I like lever actions.....

I got a Savage M340 turn bolt as a kid, wound up selling it when I was in a money pinch to an uncle, years later. It was quite accurate, an MOA rifle, and was CHEAP! I loaded spitzers in it, fed from a box magazine, no problem. It was a viable 300 yard gun with Nosler Ballistic tip 150 grainers.

Marline 'Original Golden' 39AS .22 LR
Rossi Model 92 SRC .357 Mag
Winchester 94 AE in 44 Mag (has the longer barrel with 12 round tube) Not sure if all of them have that or not.
Marlin 1895CB in 45/70.

The .22 is my primary plinker. I shot the .357 some over the holidays and it shoots great. I had to pull out that rear sight insert bring the rear sight low enough. The .44 and 45/70 were impulse buys when I had money and little sense. I like them a lot and they are great to shoot, but they are expensive to feed and I still don't have enough ammo for them. I guess I need to start reloading one of these days. I keep thinking I want to sell the Winchester and get a shorter barreled Marlin, but I haven't made up my mind yet. They are both good guns that will remain good for a long time to come.

MechAg94 (who apparently has more guns that he knows what to do with.)

Savage 99 made in the early 50s in 300 savage. I had read a lot about people saying guns have souls and when I got this gun from a family friend, I realized how true this is, I dont know if I could ever get a new bolt action hunting rifle.
