I have a Marlin 1894C that would feed anything in .357 and .38 that was within the manual's specifications. (It wouldn't feed empty cases though. It wasn't tuned for that.)

However, one day I stupidly loaded up the tube with .38 full wadcutters to see how many I could fit in. This was against the manual's explicit warning not to load it with wadcutters. It caused a huge jam where the entire action and tube magazine locked up completely. I had to take the magazine apart and send it to a gunsmith for the rest.

Apparently, the orange plastic follower on the end of the spring had broken. The gunsmith made a new one out of steel. Now, it almost it back to its old self. It will feed a magazine of .357 lead-tipped semi-wadcutters. But on the last round, it always fidgets, almost as if I'm trying to feed it an empty casing. The round doesn't want to go in, I have to fight with it, the nose isn't aligned right, and after 2 or three tries it finally will feed.

Why do you think this is? Why does it hang up on the last round? This is the round that is directly touching the follower. Do you think it is a glitch in the new follower? I haven't had the opportunity to try other types of ammo yet to see if this only affects the SWCs.

Are you working the action briskly? I've found that with the 357 Marlin you have to work the action like you are trying to break it to get it to feed properly. If you are gentle with it, it seems to hang up more often. Also stay away from semiwadcutters, too. The softpoint or hollowpoint jacketed bullets seem to feed better.
