Bush to focus on illegal immigration

I know lets bomb Juarez, and Mexico City, invade Mexico, and install a democratic government. Then we can let Halliburton and Kellog Root and Brow take over the oil fields. Mexico does have Oil.

All the terrorists will flock there to attack us instead of the USA, and we can spend $1 billion a day of the taxpayer's money rebuilding the infrastructure.

Oh wait a minute, were talking about mexico???????

Dick, Dick, Dick,

Got any new ideas???????

Lets let the free market do the job:

Or we could pay a $500 bounty for every illegal Mexican a US citizen captures, and brings to the immigration service

And fine every employer $10,000 for each illegal we find working there, and make them pay to send the illegal back to the southernmost city in mexico first class.

Any legal US worker who turns in an employer found to have an illegal at work off the books would get a $1,000 reward per illegal captured paid by the employer.

JMHO YMMV

Suggest you investigate this... it has been pursued at length elsewhere in detail... building a proper barrier, north and south, on borders, would involve in excess of $10 trillion dollars... I am not talking about a four-strand barb-wire fence....
So, the U.S, the richest nation on the freaking planet, cannot afford to build an effective barrier with our neighors yet India CAN? http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-1869575,00.html :banghead:

OK, fence too expensive. Here is another option. Lets us the extra border agents and $$$ the Bush the Younger has proposed, buy a bunch of the microchip ID tags we use in our pets and livestock and implement a new policy.

We catch you crossing once, we chip you and sent you back. We catch you again, we shoot you and ship the body back.
I am against illegal immigration but I understand that to pix the problem will cost us a fortune!
Perhaps, but NOT fixing the problem will cost us the nation.

It's much larger than just farm hands. I can’t go into full detail with out being sued, but you would be surprised. Let me just say: follow the product and follow the “real money”; see who saves, who doesn’t and who profits.

If that’s what it takes, so be it.

Everybody keeps coming up with ideas to stop illegal immigration like that's what's missing. What's in short supply is the will to stop illegal immigration. It's for damn sure Bush and the spinelessrepublicans don't have what it takes. He's the freaking Chief Executive; he could begin stopping illegal immigration tomorrow with a stroke of the pen. Instead, he's mindlessly blathering on about it. Next thing you know, he'll declare 'mission accomplished'. Freaking wimp.

The Corps of Engineers is estimating that it will cost approximately a $ Billion dollars to build a suitable dike just to isolate the city of New Orleans... a four mile stretch...

Using this estimate as a basis and expanding it to the entire sourthern border (Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California), what do you think it will cost to build a suitable sourthern barrier; i.e., an elevated high fence border... not a dike mind you but just a proper border?

Doing "what it takes," as you suggest, is an admirable approach, but impossible in current funding climate!

Why shouldn't the crop pickers make a decent living, Scrooge?

Our standard of living seemed to be just fine prior to this invasion. Lawns were mowed, lettuce was picked, oranges were harvested, so forth.
Studies as recently as 1998 have shown that the average immigrant takes about $55,000 more dollars out of our system over a lifetime than they put in.
It's estimated that there are 15-20 million illegals in our country right now and another million or so cross our border every year.
You do the math...

Guys, I don't know what the big deal is... Anyone who is an employer can tell you that an employee has to provide proof of citizenship, and has had to for over 10 years.

Here are Mongo's penalties to EMPLOYERS:

First offense of illegal employed = $1,000 fine per illegal

Second offense = $10,000 per illegal, and costs to ship them back to their home country. (if its Brazil, you pay through the nose).

Third offense = owner or president of company or corporation is incarcerated for one year in the federal pen. No appeals.

Now, do you think the problem would go away?

Staunchly apologetic, I see. Perhaps it works the other way around - people hate the Grofaz because he is so damn incompetent that he is wrecking the country, maybe?

CHeck out the meanings of both "objective" and "irrational hatred'. Also check "bigotry".

I don't know about that. How many congressional votes can you buy with a contribution of a couple mill?

Force companies to pay illegals the same as legal citizens.
All the risk in hiring an illegal without the benefit.
Think they'd stop?
Once illegals lose their job market they're screwed.

RH have you ever heard of Sarbanes-Oxley? Turned the corporate world on its ear after the Enron mess.

Corporate execs are forced to CERTIFY, under criminal penalties, their financial statements. Cleaned stuff up...

By the way it was signed into law in 2002 by President Bush. So much for the "big donor" BS...

Good point, but what determines the job market, both here in the US and in Mexico?

Actually I’m not completely sold on building a giant barrier across the border. To me it’s too much like treating the symptom instead of the cause. We might be better off asking why these people are coming and what can be done to deter it.

Certifying financial statements in no way impedes the ability of corporations to buy politicians. The requirements unders Sarbanes-Oxley act in the interests of corporate big donors by appearing to legitimize financial reports. The same games still continue.

Good luck with that... suggest you use a bullhorn at night as they hop across border and ignore you!

You would be wrong....

In 2004 the GDP of the United States was slightly over 12 trillion dollars. The border between the US and Canada is about 4,000 miles long. The border between US and Mexico is about 2,000 miles long.

You're telling me that we would need to spend 1.6 BILLION dollars on each mile of fence?

I don't think the Arizona desert needs a level-5-hurricane-resistant dike. Let's not get silly.

Also, a wall of bullets is far less expensive and more flexible than a wall of concrete.

Finally, if nobody would hire them here, they would not be coming. The first wave of repatriates bringing stories of no jobs and heavy fines will do miracles to stave off the tide. Instead, potential invaders are being fed sitcoms about how successful the illegals are/can be.

I see. So it is about me then. Things like the trade imbalance, sky-rocketing national debt, illegal immigration, outsourcing, nepotism, and military adventurism are not objective reality but just figments of my hateful bigoted irrational mind.

That's not what I was saying... I was using dike building as a comparative estimate... certainly border barrier would be suignificantly less that hurricane dike; yet, in many ways effort would be similiar.

I agree! But we haven't even fired one shot yet! SHow me the last illegal that was shot for illegally crossing the border? I have preposed elsewhere the institution of a minefield... which would be quicker and more cost efficient.

Exactly... let's do something about that... make it a prison sentence for hiring illegal alien... something substantial rather than a joke penalty nobody enforces!

Heck in my backyard here in VA the county wants to build the illegal aliens a massive employment center so they can steal our jobs! How stupid are we?

Realgun - Actually, I don't know the guy. Do you? Prehaps you could take the time to enlighten us on what he's really like. It might shed some insight on how he manages to propose policy such as this one. Let's start with a simple one - is he the conservative we thought he was when we voted for him? Please let us know.

He is the person I voted for, not the perfect one I might have liked. I see no surprises. There were no better alternatives.

GW and probably his brother, who is Catholic, are disciples of Pope John Paul II. I expect that a humanist approach to immigration problems will continue to be evident.

Q. Republicans control the Whitehouse and the Congress, why don't they just do that?

Answer:
1) They prefer to pander to illegals for votes;
2) They don't want to jail their wealthy contributors;
3) They're afraid of 'racist' accusations from Democrats;
4) All of the above

A fence what for?????? you can cut or climb a fence, or tunnel under it easily enough.

What they need is about 25 Preditor Unmanned Arial vehicles, armed with a .308 minigun with infared cameras and targeting software. 25 trained technicians sitting in a room 24/7. They shoot a few border crossers and hang their dead bodies for all to see.

Solve the problem in about a month.

Along with reducing the demand by fining employers a significant sum.

As far as picking the crop, any crop goes, you would be amazed at the harvesting machines they make these days. I even hear that they dont need slaves to pick cotton anymore cause someone invented a machine that does it.
