I am/was in the market for a .300 win mag. I found a near new condition used Savage model 111 with a Bushness 4-12x40 scope. Rifle is in new condition as far as I can tell. It's got 1 detachable magazine. No accutriger.

Seller was asking $450 - we settled on $425.

After doing some research when I got home, I think I may have overpaid...

A year ago I bought a Savage Model 110 in .3006 with a Simmons variable scope for $300 - and I felt that was a good deal. No accutrigger.

I know that Savage has a reputable product and is known for accurate bargain rifles.

For a used (even slightly) 111 without the Accutrigger, even with the Bushnell scope (unless it's the Elite), $425.00 would be no bargain around here. However, I think the quoted amount would be a fair price for both seller and buyer-at least in these parts.

It depends entirely upon WHICH type of Bushnell scope - but no, most likely that's not a real good deal for you - not horrible, but certainly not real good, unless it's an elite bushnell.

why it might not be the best deal it was still good for you... r u happy with the gun? if so dont worry about over paying a little bit just enjoy and charish your new win mag!

Well, I felt it wasn't fantastic (like my $300 Savage), but wasn't terrible. I nearly bought a Weatherby new at Walmart for $390, plus tax, and no scope or rings... So it was pretty much the same price.

Yes, I'm happy with the gun, but probably overpaid by about $50. Oh well... So trivial as to not even matter in the grand scheme...

I just bought a DPMS SPortical for $880.. Yeah , I know I overpaid couple hundred.. But the only other alternative is waiting a year and hoping it will be legal at that ime. Well, I am happy.. Hope the guy on gunbroker won't rip me off. It was my first time buying there. Now, I need to find some good scopes and flip up sights. Its my first rifle :D, I am happy for $200 more I can be a rifle owner of a well reputed rifle, not just a brand name, but one I have been hearing lot of good things about. Oh well, made up I messed up, thats part of being a newbie. At least I can say I am a rifle owner now.

Once I make a purchase I stop looking at prices and I never worry about having paid too much.

Do you like the rifle? The Savage is a fine gun. So what if you paid a few dollars too much? You paid $425. That's not much money for a gun these days. How much could you have overpaid? Life's too short. Forget about it and enjoy the rifle.

Besides, with rising prices in a year or two you will show a profit, anyway. You know what they say, you can never pay too much, only too soon.
