CNN .50 ban tonight

I'd consider it highly unlikely that O'Reilly would comment on this topic as he is rather open about the fact that he's anti-gun.

However, it seems that a number of bloggers have been going over this story.

At least one of the blogs is cross-linking to a number of sites that are either commenting or fact-checking on the story, and it's a rather lengthy list.

Based on what's been posted it would appear that one Drew Griffin may have broken the law by engaging in a cross-state private-party transfer.

Currently, this is only known among a number of gun-related bloggers, but there's no reason why it shouldn't continue to grow legs and move beyond just that small circle.

I contacted the ATF about the CNN story and I think some others have also. I think we need alot more people to do the same.

Gonna ask a guy I know who's former ATF to look at the tape. Don't know if he still has any contacts on the inside.

A thought:

Are interstate transfers of firearms legal if they are a gift?

In other words, if the money used to purchase the rifle didn't originate with Griffin or CNN, but instead came out of the pocket of the purchaser* who then gave it to Griffin as a gift, would that be a legal transaction?

Why or why not?




*Based on reading the transcript, it sounds like the purchaser was not the reporter.

I couldn't get Real Alternative to work, either. Perhaps someone out there with the proper software will be able to re-encode the video as a Quicktime or AVI?

Must not be RealAlternative then...
Hopefully someone will be able to get it to us, aye.
I've never figured out a way to download embedded videos though...I'd like to know.
