I am curious. Is Colt the only folks who made the old Vietnam style SP-1 AR-15 rifles? The Colt SP-1s are pricey. Was there any other company that made these older ones with the old style forearm? Or perhaps is there a modern day AR-15 manufactuer that makes SP-1 replica guns? Or how about just the old style forearms?

Back in the '90s (just before the 1994 Crime Bill), I purchased (used) an A1 clone by SGW/Olympic Arms. It was identical in every way to the M16A1, save it was semi only.

If you go to www.ar15.com and look in the forums, you will find a "retro" forum devoted to the early versions. You should find this very helpful.

I sold mine:banghead:, but would like to replace it.
