ok guys, i was just curious what the differances are? what can you do with a ffl that ya cant a c&r? or visa versa? thanks fer any and all help fellas.

Having a FFL means that your are in the business to sell guns. If you get one just to get guns for yourself then the ATF frowns on that. Most places make you get a store front.

A C&R is so that you can get firearms that are 50 years old or on the C&R list with out having the NICS check and you can have them shipped to your house. It's for enhancing your collection.

C&R is cool. But beware of the old gun bug that's bites after all the paperwork comes in the mail. It's a real pain in the butt(pocket).

The C&R is real handy if you're interested at all in old milsurp guns. Technically, it is a FFL, just a different classification. 01FFL is for dealers, and the 03FFL, commonly called the C&R, is, like Kingson said, for old guns. Go poke around a site like aimsurplus.com, and you'll find that most of their guns (old ones, anyway) are only sold to C&R license holders.

Gettting your C&R can be costly. The license only costs $30.00 for 3 years, it's buying all those great MILSURP guns that gets expensive!

I bought a Mosin Nagant M44 Carbine and a Yugo SKS after I got my C&R. I purchased both through AIM an Mr. UPS guy brings them right to my door!

I'm thinking about a C&R. I'd like to pickup an M44, M91 and a K31. And I'm open to other military relics.

OTOH, if I get a C&R, that'd somehow encourage me to buy more. It's tempting with good working guns for less than a hundred bucks, less than a couple hundred for sure.

I got my C&R early this month. I have not bought any guns yet, but I have placed several orders through Brownells and Midway. My license paid for itself on the first order I get from them. Actually I have saved almost 60.00 as of yesterday.

I've had a C&R since August. Wish I'd known about this 20 years ago.

TIP: When you get your C&R, don't sign it! Make a bunch of unsigned copies. These are the ones you can send to retailers for discounts. Sign the copy in BLUE ink. The reason for this is that most retailers want an original signed copy on file, and a blue signature shows that it is not a xerox copy of the original.

I had always heard this, and planned to do it. But I guess I got so excited I sent all mine off in black ink. No one rejected any I sent.
