There's a big gun show coming up, and I'm looking for a fun gun (pistol, rifle, shotgun doesn't matter) that is 400 dollars or less. A semi-auto is really what I'm looking for.

I already have an AK, an SKS, a hi-point carbine and a 10/22.

So, what's out there for pure blasting fun?

Maybe you can find a FrankenFal like the guy in Rifle Country did, but i dont know of any cheap high powered semi's. If by blasting, you mean just shooting, get like a keltec or a intratec

Saiga-12.

Box magazine fed autoloading 12ga AK-pattern shotgun. Can get 10 round magazines for it.

Typically comes in just under $400.

Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match,if you can find one.Or a Makarov pistol and a lot of ammo, but use caution,Maks are addictive...:D

My most fun

A Marlin Papoose(Takedown, backpacking .22) that is accurate and handy and a Legacy Puma 1892 lever action in .45 Colt.

A semi-auto is really what I'm looking for.
The CZ-52 will run you about $150. If that pistol was made today it would cost $1,500. (because of the machine work and rollers) That's well under $400 which leaves you plenty of cash for ammo.

If you want a rifle the WASR-10 AK-47 is under $400 and a lot of fun. Ammo is cheap too.

22/45

tin cans will shake in their boots, squirrels will cower in fear, and you will have a huge smile.

Remington Model 11s, 11-48s, and 1100s, along with Winchester Model 50s and 1400s, and Beretta 301s, 302s and 303s are good semi-automatic shotguns that can be found under $400.

if you can find one, I'd suggest a Marlin Camp 9. I'm sure having fun with the one I got a few weeks ago.

They were only made for a few years, late '90's I think. I bought a 30 round magazine for mine, and I have a lot of fun. Husband just put his red-dot scope on it to see how I would like that.

I can put 12 clay pigeons on the shooting berm and see how fast I can take them all out. Good thing my husband likes to reload.

This gun stays beside my bed, and I plan on taking it on long walks around the property. Should be fun the next time the dog scares up a jackrabbit.

I know you said simi auto but what about a mil-surp rifle? Mosin-Nagant, Enfield, Mauser, Carcano...any of those can be had fairly cheap, surplus ammo is cheap, and they're tons of fun to shoot.

+1 on the .22 pistol.

Buy any Ruger you like the looks of. I would recommend a MKII. It'll run about $260-275, and will last a lifetime. They're more accurate than you are, ammo is cheap, and they're a blast to shoot.

Harder to have fun with shotties if you're restricted to public ranges (as I am). If I had somewhere to go and blow the hell out of watermelons, I'd jump on that bandwagon.

As it is, I second the Saiga. I'm going to get one in .223 at the April gun show in Dallas (if prices haven't gone up too far from the $299 I saw last time).

You've already got all of my cheap semi-auto rifle suggestions.

If you can handle a bolt action, milsurps are the way to go. I'm fond of Mosins, inexpensive, cheap ammo, loads of history, and built like tanks. Mausers share those same qualities. Those full power cartridges are really what blasting is all about.

Otherwise, it appears you need a .22 pistol. A 22/45 or Mark III would be great, judging by your screen name, but you may already have one or both. If not, shame on you. Get a Ruger pistol, you know you want it. :p

my friend (who I made this thread for) has a 22/45, so yeah. I guess he's just gonna have to get a saiga for blasting fun.
