Fun gun for 400 or less!

Not a semiauto, but you could get a flamethrower instead--a Mosin-Nagant M44 and some milsurp heavy ball ammo... . :D

Nothing like an M44 and surplus ammo to shake up your shooting range...literally...the pumpkin-sized ball of flame after each shot is also a high point...

How tactical is that? I mean, a rifle that throws down a flash-bang with every shot...

Makarov, assuming you can find one. Surprisingly accurate, reliable, fun gun. Get one of the Pearce grips, they're a lot nicer than the factory grip.

CZ52 was mentioned, definately interesting, and ammo's not a bad price now. I put a Hogue grip sleeve on one. .357 Mag ballistics in a semi-auto, and a fireball :what: in low light that just amazes people.

Buckmark or Ruger MkII or 22/45, .22 semi-auto pistol.

Mosin Nagant of the various models, for $400 you can get one(or two) of them and a buttload of ammo.

Another +1 on the CZ52, Ruger 22/45, and Remmy 1100.

My additions...

Ruger P89 or P90 (inexpensive, reliable, and you can hurt 'em)
HS2000 / Springfield XD (the HS usually goes a bit cheaper even though it's the same gun)
Ruger 10/22 rifle
Remington Woodsmaster (used can be had fairly cheap, but .30-06 ammo prices have really jumped and the Woody is a bit finicky about what it eats)

Mosin Nagant, preferably an M44. :) 90 dollars for a top-rated one, at the most, and then you get to spend the other 310 dollars on 4k rounds of ammo!

Ruger MK III 22/45 pistol with four inch bull barrel. It should cost less than $250. Magazines are around $20; get a bunch. A 550 round box of Remington Golden Bullets runs $9.96 at Walmart. That's LOTS of ammo and a very reliable gun with adjustable sights.

The IAC clone of the 1887 Winchester lever-action 12ga shotgun goes for around $400. An absolute hoot to shoot, though there is some kick when shooting slugs or full power buckshot.

I took one to a skeet shoot where most were shooting 20ga pumps and semiautos and the guys lined up to shoot it. One guy even left and went home for more shells!

Bazooka Joe71-said

Definately a Remy 870

Then you need a skeet trap and a bunch of clay pigeons, tons and tons of fun

Bazooka Joe71 hit the nail right on the head! If you want fun then busting clays is hard to beat.

Head to your local Wal-Mart and pick up something like this:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3170096

It is the 21" barreled 870 which I think works just superbly! They are tons of fun for only $287.00

While you are there get one of the $30.00 dollar spring loaded pigeon throwers they sell, a $7.00 box of 100 clay pigeons, and a $15.00 box of 100 skeet loads.

For about $340.00 you will have the time of your life! If you really want it to be fun, then pick up a second thrower. Set one up on each side of you (note, you need at least two friends with you for this to work!). Try to break pigeons going both directions. Or set up one to throw a "running rabbit" and one to throw a fast moving grouse straight out from your shooting position. Throw a double from each thrower and see who is good enough to bust all four! There are tons of possibilities. And all this can be done for well under your 400 dollar limit! If you and two friends go then your pigeons and shells will run out long before your enthusiasm for clay shooting does. And not to repeat myself, but did I mention that it's cheap? :D

After an afternoon of shooting clays I will generally go to bed and DREAM about being at the range trying to turn those darn things into powder! For me it is one of the most fun things one can do with a firearm at the range.

Lee Enfield No. 4 Mk I or Mk I*
used S&W model 13 or 19
good pump shotgun

Do you have a ATI stock for you hi-point carbine? I don't have either but it seems like a must-have upgrade. Accessorize what you got.

There seems to be a market for a low priced pistol caliber carbine like the high point and I wonder why there is no competition for Hi-Pt in that price range. At least none I can think of right now. Sorry - just thinking out loud.
