After a little work on the SW9VE lightening the trigger and after putting several rounds through it, I finally went to an indoor range to shoot at 5 yards (as mentioned before, I've only shot at 15 or 25 yards at the unmanned ranges I go to).

We took along a Sigma 9mm, XD40, 20 year old Para-ordnance .45 (new to the owner), and a Kel-tec 9mm (which we didn't shoot). The 9mm and .45 ammo was Winchester White Box, and the .40 ammo was Blazer Brass.

I started with the 1911, after a couple shots near the center of the target, managed to hit one dead center. I have to say, this gun is great. Had a few rounds fail to load, but I think the worn-out magazine was at fault. The thing just amazed me, it'd hit wherever I put it. And it was purchased used for around $500 - something I will definitely look into.

I did good with the XD, mostly because I'm used to shooting one, as the guy I shoot with in Clemson has the exact same gun. The crisp trigger helped me a lot, and after shooting the 1911, the thing felt like it weighed nothing.

Even though I managed better with the XD, I cleared my head and ignored the mentality that "if the trigger sucks, you can't shoot it straight", and loaded up 10 rounds in my S&W. Starting at the head of the target and making my way to the middle of the target, I fired 10 shots, all of them just about centered.I loaded one mag up with 3 rounds, and managed to get them all within an inch on a clean part of the target. Then I managed to hit one right through the center hole made by the 1911.

The best part of this day is that it was a reassuring experience that the trash that people talk about Sigmas really has no backing. Sure, the trigger's not great (I'd call it pretty crappy), but lots of dry firing and practice with it has made it shoot better, as well as helping myself shoot better. That's mostly because I've gotten used to the trigger, and the people who can't shoot good with it just aren't used to it. Considering I paid nearly $200 less for it than the other 2 guns when it was brand new, I have absolutely no complaints.
