Very impressed with this pistol so far. Haven't shot it, just picked it up from the gunstore.
As someone who has owned, carried, and been quite fond of the Makarov over the years, I immediately think that I like the CZ-82 better. Already wishing I had gotten two instead of one.
This pistol fits my hand like a glove, much better than almost any pistol I have ever held. I love the position of the safety, feels a lot like a 1911. The sights are far better than the Makarov and I like that you can carry cocked and locked. Greater ammo capacity than the Mak, better mag release, and the trigger feels smoother to me. Ambi safety and mag release are a bonus. Least of all, I think it looks pretty sexy, much better than the Mak.
The Mak is better in a few areas though. Slightly thinner (for CCW), better finish, and less parts (which should hypothetically make it more reliable).
I am really upset that I took so long to get one of these. Happy that I have corrected that now.
I paid $10 extra for the hand picked. Have another brother who just bought a couple a few days after me, didn't get the handpicked. It will be interesting to see how his look in comparison and if it is just a little rougher finish or overall condition or not.
It looks like it is in better shape than I expected. I still may refinish it eventually though, just for the heck of it.
Loving this gun though. Excited to see how it shoots!!
Here is a pic.
And the Mak, just for the heck of it.
