:fire:I went to the range today and it was a alright day to go but when I got there was about 8 people and they were the sub gun guys nothing aginst the sub gun guys but all they did was sit there in the rifle bay and talk they looked at me when I went to shooting like I was calling their mom a bad name but I told them that if they wanted to stay and talk get off the bay and that got them mad I didn't care because I pay my dues to shoot and not to talk. The main thing about this that made me agravated was that they kept wanting me to tell them when I was going to shoot. I said keep your ears on and again they got mad. Has any one out there had this problem?

My club requires wearing ear protection continuously when on club property. I don't always do so, but if someone shoots when the muffs are off, it's my fault. I do as a courtesy tell people when I'm going to start shooting and ask if they have hearing protection (if not obvious), but again, it's required at all times and it's not the shooter's fault if someone takes it off.

Personally I have no problem holding conversations while wearing 29db conventional muffs or earplugs. Anyone who does have a problem should buy the electronic muffs intended for hunting that amplify normal sounds and cut out for loud sounds.

A firearms instructor I know always wears both plugs and muffs for max hearing protection, and so even with the muffs off he has very good hearing protection on.

You're there to shoot. If they want to chat, go somewwhere else and do it. The range is there for everybody, not just the sub-gun guys. I have run into this several times at the skeet range. There used to be a group that thought they owned the range and it got to be their drinking hangout. If you weren't in the "in group" you didn't feel welcome. You pay your dues so go shoot and ignore them.

Just pay them no mind. Remember you pay your dues and you are there to shoot and not necessarily make friends/enemies. Just do what you gotta do.

Also, their request is not unreasonable but you don't have to oblige, especially if they were giving the evil eyes.

I think you could have said something like, "Hey guys, I'm about to slow-fire 30 shots, so you probably want to keep your ears on."

if your on the line, your ears should be on. if you want to be able to talk and hear others, buy electronic muffs.

kind of I mean outoors on land its obvious IMHO to warn but at a RANE where people PAY to SHOOT it should be logial to think people are oing to hmm I don't know SHOOT?

The people you speak of seem pretty disrespectful. I would have probably said something like...
"Hey guys, I'm about to slow-fire 30 shots, so you probably want to keep your ears on."

Nope. I smiply announce loudly, "The range is hot!"

If someone doesn't put their ears on in about 10 seconds, it ain't none of my lookout. My club requires eye and ear protection at all time while on the firing line, so they would be the ones breaking the rules, not me.

Did they take the period and comma buttons off your computer also?

LMAO,

Also, when a word has a red line under it, it means it is misspelled. Learn to use the gifts the computer gods have given us.

I pay my dues to shoot as well. If you don't want to loose your hearing then put some hearing protection on. as to talking on the firing line. You guys are some hardazzez because there are many times that we end up shooting for an hour and talking for 2 hours. granted I am their to have fun and do some shooting weather it is bullets or the breeze i don't care.

Well if they wanted you to tell them everytime you were going to fire. I would just stand up and scream at them "FIRE IN THE HOLE" and then shoot. After about twice of that I am sure they would get off the line.

Now I understand that they were being rude and that. But you can always just ignore them and shoot. What do you care not like they are going to come and beat you down on the FIRING RANGE.

If you right click with your mouse on the words with red dots under it, a list of correctly spelled words close to your misspelling will pop up. Click the one you think is right.

What are "sub-gun guys"? Sub machine guns?

+1

No matter what that means I would have told them to go somewhere else and talk rather than just keeping their ears on. It's a shooting range.

Most of the ranges I shoot at, both indoor and outdoor, I pay for by the hour. I'm there to shoot, not exchange recipes or chat about the weather, etc. Tell them to take their conversations somewhere else, because it's a firing range, not a coffee house. Also hearing and eye protection are mandatory once you step onto the range.

I just got a new computer and it has this feature but my old one didn't. So maybe he just has an old computer.

I am with the OP... If you want to shoot shoot. If you want to talk, leave your gear, step out of the bay and go talk or pack up and take off. While I understand the spirit of camaraderie, I don't think it should come at other people's expense.

If you download and install Google toolbar for IE then you will have spell check.

that's like going to a swiming pool and not spashing,jumpy in,or just swiming,it's a shooting range,not a talking range...

Hey i was just wondering if you knew about the comma and period buttons on your keyboard because i do and i use them quite a bit by the way im sorry to hear about your range expierece i know a lot of people who can be jerks at the range but still i like to shoot golf and fish sometimes when its nice outside also did you know that the sky is blue and sometimes gray when its going to rain
