Anyway, I set up a 'WikiWiki' for gun-related stuff, as a resource for all you people who love guns:

Anyway, the whole idea of a Wiki is fast, reliable collaborative information storage and conglomeration. Actually, 'WikiWiki' is the hawaiian word for 'Very Fast'! And it is! Anyway, most of you are probably familiar with http://www.wikipedia.org/ the biggest WikiWiki to date. Most people don't even know that you can set up your own wiki for free, but I do. Anyway, there's instructions there on how to use it, and I would like to invite you all to come post something! Right now, there's nothing there, because nobodies posted anything yet! So, to help it grow and become meaningful, all I ask is that each person that reads this and visits the wiki posts a SINGLE THING. Register, read the help, and post a SINGLE THING - for starters, since there's literally nothing there, you may want to define 'Gun', then 'Trigger' and 'Barrel' before you get into more specific stuff, like a history of the 30.06 (-:
Anyway, PLEASE, go visit that, and make use of it! If every one of you posts only one thing every day, we'll have a fully functional, working WIki available within a week, for everyone around the entire WORLD to use, look at, and contribute to!

Interesting idea, but it sounds like you're inviting anyone and everyone, including Hillbilly Hank and his twin brother Billy Bob, to post their gun 'knowledge'. How do you know that everyone that posts something there knows what they're talking about? There are many widely-published books out there about certain rifles which are loaded with misinformed histories and incorrect technical information. Bad advice is as common as bad manners. What if someone posts that it's okay to handload spitzer bullets for use in a tube mag .30-30, then someone reads that on your website and tries it? Do you have an expert on hand who knows absolutely everything about guns and will be checking every single entry to make sure the information it contains is correct?

I'm not trying to be critical, but since you didn't mention this potential problem, I'm just wondering if you've considered it. If not, you could be setting yourself up for one lawsuit after another...

Every other Wiki has the same "problems" regarding the quality of information. The system tends to work out fine in the long run.
As far as liability, it doesn't seem as though he has any more liability than the operators of The High Road.

Yes, it's a self policing "open source" approach to information sharing. For all the potential problems, I have noticed Wikipedia is VERY quick abour correcting errors, or vandalism.

thanks for the support - in answer to the question, the whole idea of a wiki, is that for every person with wrong information, there are 10 with right information. Therefore, it's YOUR job to go there, and not only check existing posts to see if they're right (in your opinion) but to post everything you already know (-:

I hope you didn't take my post the wrong way, I wasn't trying to rain on your parade, just thinking about precautions. I didn't realize Wikipedia worked that way. Sounds like a good deal.

I'm a huge supporter of open knowledgebases like wikipedia, so I think this is an awesome idea.

I'll definitely try to add some worthwhile content.
