New today:

Delaware HB192 would allow local governments to enact laws prohibiting the carrying of firearms in municipal buildings

https://amgoa.org/Proposed-Delaware-Gun-Law-HB192/State-Law/30737

New Jersey A4556 would gut the definition of an antique firearm making it so only firearms made prior to 1898 would be eligible

AJR121 is another 'feel good' resolution to make June 21 of each year 'ASK (Asking Saves Kids) Day' to promote children's health and gun safety.

US HB2767 is written by the same man that thought Guam was tipping over (seriously). The bill would ban all loaded firearms from all sections of all airports.

The bill has no text yet but we have already seen the press releases about it

https://amgoa.org/Proposed-Federal-Gun-Legislation-HB2767/Federal-Law/1327

The text of US HB2732 finally came in today and yeah it's as bad as we thought. The bill would provide grant money to any state that implements handgun licensing (that is requiring a license before you are allowed to buy a handgun).

The required 'licensing' would include a background check, fingerprints, birth certificate or passport and photographs. The licenses must be renew every 5 years (maximum).

Is it just me, or does our side not spam legislatures with anywhere close to as many pie-in-the-sky proposals?

^ No, it's not just you. It's the truth and the way liberals operate. Throw enough manure against the wall and some of it is bound to stick.

An ancient proverb with much proven accuracy. :D

New today for congress:

SB1594 would set up training for commercial pilots and allow them to be armed while on duty, either on domestic flights or international flights.

HB2871 has no text yet but the title states 'To provide an incentive for firearm owners to sell their firearms safely and responsibly.' ... should be a hoot to read when the text comes out

https://amgoa.org/Proposed-Federal-Gun-Legislation

New today for New Jersey:

A4680 would give preference to anyone applying for a firearm purchase card if they currently had a restraining order against someone. The problem is the bill does not change the time period for issuing a license.

S3062 has no text but has the same title to we assume it's the sister bill to A4680

So while everyone was out enjoying the holiday weekend the Democrats tried to sneak out the text for HB2939.

The bill is written by none other that the king of corruption Charlie Rangel from New York city and has the oh so benign title 'Enforce Existing Gun Laws Act'.

What the bill really would do is lift many of the restrictions on ATF that have been in place for years. Like not being allowed to maintain a firearm registry database or having to destroy background check information within 24 hours or requiring firearm dealers to do continual physical inventories. Not only that it would eliminate many of the limitations on ATF that were established by the Tiahrt Amendments.

Yup, you celebrated freedom while they tried to sneak out a bill to restrict that freedom.

Well the state legislatures may be quiet due to summer breaks the federal government is on a tear with new legislation, many bills without text, some pro some con. Here's some from today that do have text

HB3126 would prevent anyone from furnishing names to ATF about social security recipients

HB3139 would allow the secretary of each branch of service to authorize military members to carry sidearms at recruitment centers

HB3130 is another attempt to ban anyone who is convicted or misdemeanor stalking or domestic violence from owning firearms

Hey Nevada people!

You have a sneaky senator trying to slip one by you.

Senator Mark Manendo gutted out SB221, which was originally introduced in March with a title that stated:

"Revises provisions governing the addition of fence rollers to certain walls in common-interest communities."

Well the title still says that BUT the bill has been gutted and rewritten with mental health check language (which in itself isn't that bad) BUT it also has proposals for universal background checks as bad if not worse that the recently passed bills in Washington and Oregon.

You might want to send him a little love note telling him you are on to his tricks.

Well good old Feinstein and Boxer are at it again. Introduced today, SB1977 would penalize states that do not have 'gun violence restraining orders' on the books. The bill also sets up how when and where they are to be used and includes a means of seizing firearms from a person who is subject to an order.

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Federal-Gun-Legislation

Michigan friends, here's a bill you can get behind.

Introduced today HB4795 would set up a means for citizens and representing organizations to sue local governments that impose laws that regulate firearms. The bill would also set up penalties to be paid to the person(s) bring the lawsuit.

The bill is almost identical to the bill passed by Pennsylvania last year.

Well summer is over and many legislatures are coming back into session, and of course writing new legislation aimed at taking away your rights. New today:

Michigan:

SB0478 would change 1927 PA 372 to strike the word pistol and add the word firearm, essentially regulating all firearms as handguns have been regulated in the past

SB0479 would change 1931 PA 328 to strike the word pistol and add the word firearm, essentially regulating all firearms in the penal code as handguns have been regulated in the past

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Tennessee-Gun-Laws

Tennessee:

HB1409 would change laws regarding carrying a firearm to ban it from public parks, arenas, stadiums when tickets or passes are required to enter.

SB1432 would change laws regarding carrying a firearm to ban it from public parks, arenas, stadiums when tickets or passes are required to enter.

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Tennessee-Gun-Laws

US Congress:

SB2002 is an attempt to improve the NICS system by bribing the states into providing more mental health records, something that is already law (the original NICS improvement act) but has never been funded

Similar House bills from earlier in the year never left committee. Hopefully these will have similar results. Michigan has been trending away from regulation and gun control, to the point where the handgun registry may eventually be shut down and scrapped. That bill actually has had some traction.

New today for US Congress:

HB3455 - Good old NY representative Carolyn Maloney, the east cost version of Diane Feinstein is at it again. This time she is trying to amend Chapter 44 of title 18 to make it even MORE illegal for straw purchasing guns.

SB2016 also came in with a similar title but no text so I have to assume it is the Senate version of this nonsense

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Federal-Gun-Legislation

Well here we go folks. US HB3497 finally had its text released today and it's another liberal nightmare. The bill would ban the Five-seveN Pistol and 5.7 x 28mm SS190, SS192, SS195LF, SS196, and SS197 cartridges AND it would allow the attorney general to set up standards for 'armor piercing' ammunition for future bans.

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Federal-Gun-Legislation-HB3497/Federal-Law/1387

And another nightmare bill has finally gotten the text released.

US SB2016 would change the language about transferring a firearm to make it so that the seller must take 'reasonable steps' to determine if the buyer is prohibited. It does not say what those reasonable steps are.

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Federal-Gun-Legislation-SB2016/Federal-Law/1386

Hooray, the annual Five-seven ban bill! Means I'm gonna need to dig out my sweater, soon ;). You think they realize the ammo's been relabeled SS197SR (sporting round), or are they not even bothering to review their crusty old bill anymore?

As far as the Senate Bill, hopefully our critters have been made aware that "reasonable" is a crazy-loud dog-whistle at this point, and won't bite. I'm sure there's still zero appetite for either of these to get out of committee.

TCB

Military Arms channel on YouTube did armor penetration tests with the Five seveN pistol, and couldn't defeat Level II soft armor. Only with the 10.5" barrel on his SBR PS90 could he beat the armor and get penetration into a gel torso.

Banning the pistol which can't defeat LII armor with commercial ammo, including the lead free green tip, but keeping the rifle legal which can defeat armor with all types of factory ammo is pointless.
Handgun and ammo, not armor piercing. Ban it.
Rifle and ammo, armor piercing, keep it legal.

What a joke.

New Today:

Wisconsin AB354 would restore the 48 hour waiting period for handgun purchases that was eliminated earlier this year

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Wisconsin-Gun-Law-AB354/State-Law/30889

New Jersey S3153 is a really strange bill and we are not sure what they hope to accomplish with it. It would require anyone charged or in custody for carrying a firearm illegally on school property to undergo a psychological examination

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-New-Jersey-Gun-Law-S3153/State-Law/30890

New today for Michigan:

HB4942 would create 'gun violence restraining orders similar to the ones California has.

HB4943 would add anyone subject to a 'gun violence restraining order' a prohibited person. (works in conjunction with HB4942)

HB4944 would allow certain entities to ban open carry on their property and premises.
