Here's an update for you Pennsylvania people. HB503, which came in a few days ago got the bill text added today and when I say this is the scariest bill I have seen in PA in years I am not kidding.

How about 100% mandatory firearm registration with PSP, required to be done annually?

The chances of this thing passing are slim but none the less every PA person should keep an eye on this atrocity of a bill.

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Pennsylvania-Gun-Law-HB503/State-Law/28748

New today and Illinois people pay special attention to HB2671!

Illinois:

HB2720 would stop municipalities from revoking liquor license because the owner allows concealed carry

HB2724 would require concealed carry holders, or non-residents carrying to allow emergency services personnel to secure their firearm during the 'duration of contact'

HB2721 would prohibit employers from punishing employees for storing a firearm in their vehicle

HB2659 would set up an additional tax on all firearms to be used for 'at-risk' youth programs

HB2671 is a full out 'assault weapons' ban bill, a ban on 50 caliber rifles and a ban on any handgun that can accept a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds unless the firearm is registered with the state (along with a fee of $25)

It also would prohibit the owner to transfer any registered weapon to anyone except an heir.

Anyone found to be breaking this new law would be charged with a class 3 felony for the first charge and a class 2 felony for subsequent charges.

The bill also contains a high capacity magazine ban for anything over 15 rounds.

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Illinois-Gun-Laws

Minnesota HF1088 would create another gun-free zone a 'patient care zone'

Nevada SB175 would make all sorts of good changes to current law, like clarifying deadly use of force, allowing non-residents with permits to carry in the state and federal firearm law nullification

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Nevada-Gun-Law-SB175/State-Law/28881

New Mexico HB544 is a negligent storage bill with the same old tired language 'knows or reasonably should know'

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-West-Virginia-Gun-Law-HB40/State-Law/28874

Texas has two proposals regarding open carry filed for discussion this session of the legislature: Constitutional Carry and Open Carry for concealed carry licensees. I would like to see Constitutional Carry, but due to many things historically in Texas, not to mention the antics of the Open Carry folks carrying long guns into coffee shops and restaurants, even open carry of unloaded holstered cb revolvers on the state capital grounds, I dont see that happening. Open carry for CCL holders has a better chance of passing.

Well folks here we go again, this time in Illinois, a full registration of ALL firearms owned by civilians!

In today SB1413 would require the registration of all firearms with the state police, applicants would have to supply the following to the state police:

Name, home address, phone number, their occupation, the address of their place of work, the business phone number, their gender, race, height, weight, date of birth, place of birth, social security number, a current copy of their driver's license

The make, model, manufacturers name, caliber and serial numbers of all firearms

The date the applicant acquired the firearm and the name, address and phone number of the person (or dealer) the firearm was purchased from

Any information on the applicant about their mental state as judged by a court, board or any other lawful authority

An authorization and release to obtain information relevant to the person's eligibility and a waiver of right to confidentiality

Applicants right thumb fingerprint

2 color photos that must have been taken no more than 30 days prior to the application

The bill also states that once a person has been denied and filed an appeal that is also denied they must surrender their firearms to the state

Pass this one along to all your friends in Illinois!

Did illinois already solve their real problems before focusing on triple and quadruple layers of oppression for their percieved firearm problem? The shear volume of proposed legislation should prompt impeachment or recalls. If they have this much idle time, all lawmakers should be restricted to part time to save money. reducing taxes would solve more problems than all of these redundant firearm bills.

But of course not, don't you know that making things 'double secret illegal' stops criminals?

Arkansas:

SB492 would allow employees to keep their firearms stored in their vehicle while at work

HB1432 would repeal the ban on carrying in a polling place

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Arkansas-Gun-Laws

California AB529 is about the dumbest thing we have ever seen. It's not even a firearm bill but it does have to do with anyone prohibited from owning a firearm. It basically allows DMV to access a prohibited persons database and allows DMV to deny transfers, registrations for vehicles and drivers licenses if they are on the prohibited list. How does that make sense to any one?

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-California-Gun-Law-AB529/State-Law/29010

Really disappointment in Virginia's House of Delegates.

Both the Senate and House had voted to repeal the idiotic anti-switchblade/throwingstar etc. law

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-South-Carolina-Gun-Law-H3716/State-Law/29079

US Congress HB1076 has no text yet but we know this is the bill Feinstein has been ranting about, denying firearms from those on the terrorist watch list, you know, that secret list that nobody knows who is on, that is controlled by DHS and is nearly impossible to get your name off?

Remember, many of these 'legislators' have labeled gun owners as 'terrorists' so who decides what the actual definition of a terrorist is for the purposes of being 'allowed' to own a firearm?

When governments start creating secret lists and begin to use those lists to deny citizens their basic rights we have gone into a dark area much like we have seen throughout history.

Couple of bills finally got their full text in today and Wow, just WOW!

New York A05864 finally had its full text come in today. We knew it was going to be bad but holy heck.

The bill would require anyone that WANTS to own a firearm, of any type, to first get a liability insurance policy in the amount of $250,000 dollars (that's not a typo, it's two hundred and fifty thousand dollars). Also every firearm owner would be required to maintain these policies for as long as they own a firearm.

If the policy lapses it would cause 'THE IMMEDIATE REVOCATION OF SUCH OWNER'S REGISTRATION, LICENSE AND ANY OTHER PRIVILEGE TO OWN SUCH FIREARM'

If we could give this one 10 thumbs down we would.

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-New-York-Gun-Law-A05864/State-Law/29711

And another one that finally had its text updated today:

Texas SB1006 would create 'gun violence restraining orders' and as always with these type bills the language leaves the whole process open to vindictive spouses and people that might have a grudge against you. These orders can be for up to a year.

What really makes you wonder about the person that wrote this bill is this line:

'the person is entitled to submit one written request for a hearing at any time during the effective period of the order to determine whether the order will be terminated before its expiration date.'

So you get your initial hearing and then just one more shot and if the judge rules against you you are out of luck. Nice 'due process' huh?

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Texas-Gun-Law-SB1006/State-Law/29717

Vermont H0460 would ban lead ammunition for hunting

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Vermont-Gun-Law-H0460/State-Law/29784

Well folks the text of US HB1076 finally came in today (we were starting to think it was a 'state secret') and man oh man it's not good. With 15 sponsors lead by New York RINO we had a feeling but actually reading the bill is just scary.

The bill is entitled 'Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2015'

The bill gives 'discretionary' denial powers to the attorney general to deny firearm sales to those they 'believe' might be a terrorist or may have (or intend to) aid either foreign or 'domestic' terrorists, to refuse or revoke FFL licenses for the same reasons.

Even worse there is a clause stating the AG may withhold information in a firearms license denial or revocation suit if the AG 'determines' the information would 'likely compromise national security'. It would also allow the AG to withhold information in a relief from disabilities lawsuit for the very same reasons.

Anyone denied under this bill would have 60 days to challenge the denial or revocation. Documents from the AG that are submitted to the court MAY be redacted (again under the national security umbrella) and specifically states 'The court shall not consider the full, undisclosed documents in deciding whether the Attorney General’s determination satisfies the requirements of 18 section 922A or 922B'

And of course you must understand that many 'patriot' groups within the US and most US militia groups have been labeled by some legislators as 'domestic terrorists' so where does the line get drawn? We also know that the 'no fly' list, which is also under the control of the AG is secret and many people with similar names have been added to it as suspected terrorists' while others are mistakenly added to it.

So if denied under this discretionary ability by the AG the person denied would have to hire attorneys and file a challenge in federal court which of course is extremely expensive.

If this bill is passed the abuses by the AG office could make some of the things we have seen over the past few years look like childs play.

Time to fire up the phones and the emails and tell your representatives not just no but HELL NO!

Are there a lot of 12 year olds running around the bayou with Uzi submachine guns? Since the bill specifically states Uzi are other models of submachine gun exempt? And since it also states submachine gun, are semi auto Uzis exempt? Seems like a very minute set of specifications for one law. Not that I would prefer a broader set of specifications, but this just seems silly.
