Got a Hi Power that consistantly yet unpredictably will hold open by the slide stop as if it is empty yet the clip is still yet full. I tried a differant clip and still the issue remains. So i took the gun apart and everything appears to be in order. The slide stop is a new Pachmyer that has no more then 500 er so rounds through it. I thought maybe the detent ball needed more tension so i screwed the screw tighter and also loosened it up and the issue still remained. So now im wondering if i need a new recoil spring guide assy? Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.

Did the old slide stop work OK? If so, your question is answered; the new one is not made right. You can tinker with it or return it; I recommend the latter.

I did not replace the slide stop. I believe the old one was replaced by my grandfather because it was pitted and i do not have the old one either. I got ahold of my uncle that also has one and in the morning im gonna go do some parts swapping and testing to see what happens. Thanks.

Update

After doing some parts swapping with my uncles Hi Power i came to the conclusion that the slide stop is the issue. The Pachmyer slide stop is not a well made piece compared to the factory one and is also softer metal. Where the slide stop stops the frame is begining to mushroom out a lil already and the machined slot on the pin is way to big.
