Found a great deal on a used RCBS 5-0-5 scale, 25 bucks. Got it home set it down it doesn't zero. Looked it up online only to realize it's missing the pan. Dang it! Oh well, lesson learned. The sell doesn't have it either. MY fault lesson learned. Still not a bad deal though. Excited to finally weigh something over 100 grains.

Anyone have a pan they'd sell cheap?

Dog runner very possibly correct. Worst case RCBS would sell you one, but I think free.

I had great service from them the one time I needed them to provide a missing part, bought new, no questions asked.

If it helps any at all, my RCBS 5-10 aluminum powder pan weighs 148.1 grains. You need the pan to weigh enough to put the pointer close to zero so that you have enough adjustment to zero the scale.

I accidentally stepped on my primer catcher for one of my presses, sent RCBS an e-mail on Wednesday, they told me it's in the mail already. They're great folks.

Definitely call RCBS.

With their customer service. They probably put one in the mail already for you without you knowing.....at least that's the way their CS seems sometimes.

The bottom section of the "hanger" on which the pan sits is removable and hollow.

It has weights inside to enable the user to adjust the tare to a perfect zero.

Anything that fits can be used.

If the new pan doesn't zero perfectly, just add or subtract weight as needed

Thanks guys! I'll call them tomorrow and see what they say. I also see midway has them but I don't wanna fork over the 20 bucks for one.

TC, I picked up a used 505 like you did and when I got it home I found that the elevation knob was cracked. It was still usable but I didn't like the fact that it was cracked so i called RCBS and they sent me a new one free of charge, great service from a great company!

RCBS not only has sent me parts for metallic stuff, but also every single part for their Grand - I asked for some not knowing what might fail as some parts are designed to fail to prevent major damage to the press) - everytime, the stuff was shipped the next day and arrived within a few after that. IF the rest of the industry took note, they might learn something.....

YES....RCBS CS is great.
I broke one of the pick up tube plastic ends for my bench priming tool, and wrote them an email asking to buy one.
They said it's on it's way at no charge..!!!
The whole tube...!!!

Call or write them....

Thanks RCBS.

I bought a used RCBS case trimmer and the two threaded adjustment knobs were fused together. It hardly fell into the category of "defect", but rather "age".

RCBS sent a complete new assembly - no charge.

Talk about getting a customer for life!

Well I called today and they had to do a call back as they were too busy. I was straight up honest with them and said I bought it used and it was missing the pan. They just asked for my address. I asked how much and they said they were inbetween systems and couldn't charge me! Sweeet!

Thanks for the help guys!

They would not have charged you if they were not 'inbetween systems'

That's how they roll since I started buying their stuff in 1960 something.

Yup! Me too RC. Let's see.....been going on since at least 1970 for me.

Too bad other industries aren't customer lovers. Sony could care less, for example. The Sony laptop I'm typing on has worked fine for several years, but the first 6 months the rarely even used DVD blueray quit. They said, "so sorry, $250 bucks please". I said forget you guys, and I bought my own cheap non-blueray DVD for $30. Ya think I'll be loyal to Sony when it's time to buy another laptop?........like I am to RCBS?.........bet you know the answer to that one.

Ahh, the American way.. nothing satisfies us quite like receiving a freebie from a business or govt entity! Well, except maybe receiving two of 'em. Heck, why not tell them you need a replacement AND a spare!

I guess they've been between systems since 1993 when I began reloading/casting with RCBS products. LOL I've never had to call for a part yet but I guess I'm still a newby in this craft.....

Broke a decapping pin on a 9mm carbide set

Broken pin and the part that holds it was bent. I was so disappointed when I contacted RCBS. I managed to straighten out the pin holder thingy, but alas no pin. Wasnt their fault, the flash hole on the case was off center. It was like the 15th case decapped on a brand new set and I was pissed. Fired off an email right away and I am sure my anger shone through as well. I probably said something like " why the heck dont you guys put an extra pin in with the set if its so fragile?" or something like that.

Two days later I had five pins and an extra whole decapping unit (pin plus clamp holder) in my mailbox no questions asked. Geesh, they showed me and felt like a real jerk too.

There is nothing like "WOM" advertising... ( Word Of Mouth ):)

Look how it's working HERE....
Has anyone priced how much it costs large companies annually to advertise in just one area??

Giving away some parts does not compare to the price of advertising.

They KNOW what they are doing....and it's been working for many years.
