I am interested in concealed carry options for the J Frame. I wear a suit to work every day. Seems like my options are tuckable holster or ankle carry. What are you guys using for carrying your J Frames? Any practical advice for carrying?

Pics appreciated.

Most suits I have experienced have generous enough pockets to swallow a j frame.
A DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster seems to be a great choice.

What Jim said.

If you do a lot of sitting and driving an ankle holster might be okay. Otherwise it is the world's slowest and most awkward draw known to man.

I use a Galico IWB holster for my J frame. Normally on my left side due to the fact I'm better with a revo left handed. I have carried the same gun in a Galico IWB cross-draw style on my left side (for shooting right handed) and it works great for a right handed shooter while driving.

My 442 lives in a Blackhawk Size 3, it's in my pocket right now, and probably gets more carry-time than anything else I own. I have a Nemesis too, but I like the Blackhawk better.

That said, if I'm in really lightweight summertime business slacks, I'm pocket-carrying a LCP instead.

If I were pocket carrying and wearing a suit I would need suspenders to keep the pants up.

If possible I would prefer the OWB methodology, good belt good holster.

I second the Blackhawk. I have a Mika and find the BH is smaller and doesnt buldge as much allowing less print. Also maybe my Mika just isnt worn in but I find it pushing my pocket open.

What are you guys using for carrying your J Frames?
I IWB a M36 at 4 o'clock with a Fist K6 here. IMOO, if I wore a suit coat daily to work, I would probably move up to a 4" K frame (S&W M13) carried OWB.

For you guys that use those IWB holsters for the J frame I was curious what the comfort or discomfort level is with it stabbing you in the gut all day long?
Because of the extra weight of my S&W m 37 loaded and it's extra girth compared to my pocket 380(Diamondback) I have always thought that for normal summer time wear that the IWB would be the most concealable as Texas really means they want your gun concealed, but again hows the comfort of this set up?

I just figured out how to make pocket carry work. J-frames look like a big orange in your front pocket......but with one of those Cuban style button down shirts.... its long enough to go over the front pocket. Those shirts are designed to be worn untucked and looks perfectly natural that way.

The "bulge" in the front pocket is hidden from view.

Also, if I do decide to carry IWB, I can raise my hands completely up and the shirt is long enough to keep the gun 99 percent out of sight.

If it's a steel J-Frame?
A good belt & holster is the only good all-day option.

If it's an alloy J-Frame?
Pocket carry may work well for you.

pocket carry and tighten your belt...

I agree. I pocket-carried my 442 (in the Blackhawk size 3) in business slacks for a year-or-so before I replaced it with a LCP in a leather wallet-holster for light summer-wear business slacks (shirt tucked-in no jacket). The 442 is still my choice for front-pocket-carry at-home or out and about in casual-wear: Carrharts, jeans, etc. It does not look like I have "an orange" in my pocket. It's very discreet and comfortable.

I don't like the idea of varying your method of carry according to your particular dress day-to-day. If you ever need to use your gun in a hurry under stress, you will probably revert to automatic pilot and gross motor skills. If you trained to pocket carry and find yourself in a life or death situation, you may end up madly searching an empty pocket because your piece happened to be strapped to your ankle that day.

Better to decide on a particular mode of carry and stick to it.

When I wear a suit and have to conceal (small auto, not a J-frame) I just make sure I wear a 3 piece suit and do IWB. The vest covers the pistol if I decide to take off the jacket.

I used to wear a suit to work, but when I arrived I took it off. I tried a good ankle holster, but it gave me a nasty rash. If it's an airweight you might get away with pocket carry depending on your pocket and pants, but if it's steel it's going to sag and flop around. Dress belts aren't much good for cc either.

I carry a 37 in a blackhawk owb holster.even a t shirt conceals it well for me.i am 6' 220 lbs.i wear cross draw and find the gun sits in a sorta indent at about 10 oclock.the cross draw helps when sitting.i have a pocket holster, shirt holster, and iwb tuckable.all suck in different situations.least amount of drawbacks,as i see it, is owb.the shirt holster is pretty good as long as u dont need your weapon!imo.
