I've heard tell that New Jersey gun grabbers have come up with a new way to restrict guns.

Their plan is to BAN ownership and possession of ammunition to anyone who does not have a New Jersey hunting license.

This goes for anyone, even those not from the state.

Planning to go to a shootin match in Jersey..... you might need a huntin permit before you go.

If you child is with you, they'll need a huntin permit just to handle the ammo.

I am not sure if this has passed as of yet, but it needs to be stopped.

see:
http://www.njsfsc.org/a2602.html

don't know if "hunter's license" and "NJ FID" card have gotten mixed in the storylines over the past month or not...

just one of the ridiculous things in the assembly bill would require all occupants of a vehicle carrying ammo to have an NJ FID card...whether they shoot or not...like i said, ridiculous

This is nuts.

I read all these threads about NJ and to tell the truth, I'm actually inclined to believe most of it... THAT many people wouldn't lie.

But, and I know it's cliche... but that's just f'd up lol. How can any self respecting gun owner even live there? I "know" there are a million different reasons like your job and your family, but it sure seems to me that even if you do have a firearm, legally, that you are just biding time until you get arrested for some reason or another....

I don't even know why NJ is like that... to be honest, most of the state, as far as I have heard, is a dumping ground for trash from NY... not like NY is that much better.

sorry guys. :( maybe someday....

There's been a lot of ridiculous things proposed as law re guns in Jersey, and the sad thing is, all the proposals are serious, and you never really can tell which one's got any legs without inside info.

Some blasts from the past:

-Ban on armor piercing frangible ammunition...withdrawn when it was pointed out to the sponsor that armor piercing and frangible are mutually exclusive.

-Ban on any firearm >= .50 cal...withdrawn when it was pointed out to the sponsor that this banned 12 ga shotguns, and muzzle loading black powder rifles...

Ban on slingshots.....passed into law.

Ban on sale of non personalized handguns....passed into law.

Personalized handguns? Is that like a gun that says "To my bother Budd, the only man I have ever loved." :)

I escaped that hell hole and will only go there once a year for two reasons.

Christmas with my grandparents and decent freakin slice of pizza. Its been two years since I had a decent slice of pizza and I'm gettin annoyed.

A "Personaized Handgun", by the law's definition, is a handgun that can only be operated by the indivdual owner by way of a secondary system that enables the action. In short, the won't work unless you have on your secert decoder ring, magic crystal, or whatever. The law says that, 'AFTER A FUNCTIONAL SYSTEM IS DEVELOPED, ALL HANDGUNS SOLD IN THE STATE MUST INCORPERATE THIS SYSTEM." They basically mandated technology that doesn't even exist yet.
That's our forward-thinking politicians - the same ones who just raised the sales tax because there won't be enough money to cover next year's budget...

Thats how it is in IL. We need a FOID card to buy ammo and posess ammo if we live in IL. However from what your saying it is worse simply because out of staters will need a hunting license. I understand and sympathize with all of you stuck in NJ. We got the same problem here in IL. Moronic legislators.

I truly believe this should be posted over the entrance to every gov't building:

"BEWARE THE ACTIONS OF STUPID PEOPLE IN LARGE GROUPS"

New Jersey already makes it illegal to own a firearm (any) without an FID card. The only addition woudl be the ammo, which would make it like MA.

Peoples' Republic of New Jersey

I live in South Jersey. The part that is not a dumping ground for NY trash. Some parts are beautiful. We have state forrests, the shore, and a bunch of stupid gun laws that have been foisted on us by idiot politicians from North Jersey (Senator Lautenburg, our answer to Ted Kennedy). The other one, Menendez is no better. Major A'holes, both of them.

Many people here would love to split from North Jersey and form our own state. North Jersey gets all the tax money, has most of the crime, and is the reason we pay the highest auto insurance premiums in the US.

If they pull this ammo ban off, we can just get our ammo online, which I do now, anyway. And it's true, you can't own a slingshot in NJ! You might shoot yourself in the foot, or put your eye out. This is the first I've heard of the ammo ban, or the proposed Smart Gun Law, both absolutely absurd. I wish I was in a position to move to Maryland or PA. I will ASAP.

The thing about the NJ Firearms ID card for anyone in a car transporting ammo is surprisingly outrageous, even for this state. You know, you can be busted in NJ, for drunk driving, WHILE ON FOOT!!! Absolutely true. I hate it here. You can't get a FID until you are 18, so I guess you can't have kids in the car and ammo in the trunk, if this gets through.

It's obvious to me that our politicians don't think the Second Ammendment applies to them.

When I calm down, I'll have to look up the current statutes. If I do it right now, I'd probably have a stroke. :fire: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :cuss:

Believe ALL of it, my friend. It is all true. NJ recently solicited the public for a state slogan. You may have heard about it on the news. It should have been-
"New Jersey. If you're doing it here, it's probably illegal". :fire:

Better hurry - those wishing to leave are already having trouble selling their homes. Shocking, but true. The gun issues are just the tip of the iceberg. You wouldn't even believe what goes on if I told you so I won't waste your time. The only solution would be found hanging from lamp-posts.

Give a man a fish and he'll be fed for a day. Teach a man how to fish and he'll be fed for the rest of his life.

Well, I'm sure to be leaving lots out, but there's one gentleman in the state named George Norcross who runs the unions and is well connected to the largest businesses, etc. He also runs the state Democrat Party. He funds the campaigns of those who run for office who will implement "his" legislation. So far he owns over 60 elected officials throughout the state and he'll spend whatever it takes.
All work is done in the state using his labor which is 40% more expensive than free and open market labor. This excess 40% is paid for by taxpayers and is what's used to fund campaigns thereby giving continuity to this axis-of-evil or the politically correct term "Machine".
And, again, it's his labor that's used for virtually all municipal, county and state contracts. Personally, I don't get it, but it doesn't matter all that much because I moved exactly 2 years ago.
Democracy ensures that we're governed no better than we deserve. It's a perfect mechanism.

Look where you went: The Carolinas. The Tomato Pie is pretty good around here in South Fla!

New Jersey, They have a law against everything, get out while you can.

I did, and never looked back.

"From what I heard", Don't make assumptions about a place you've never been to. The Southern half of New Jersey is a paradise, it's the politicians that make it a screwed up place to live.

That's like me saying,"From what I heard, all the groundwater in your state is polluted from from commercial pig farms anyway".

But I don't really mean that, just giving an example.

it is a shame NJ has gone to that level .When I was a kid back in the 60's we lived in Waretown(south jersey) and me and friends would hunt all the time it was shotgun only we were like 13 and would walk to each others house with our guns and walk the woods all day on saturday. never had any problems even went to the local hardware store and bought ammo without a adult. What is wrong with the mentality of the people in the NY NJ area.I now live in the south where gun laws are few and no one here has any problems everyone carrys, crime only exists in low income neighborhoods and is usually between durg deals and such. it is like the saying goes "an armed society is a polite society"
Also down here most of us have so called "assault rifles" and full auto weapons we get together a few times a year and have full auto shoots .None of us has gone crazy yet and mass murdered anyone.Maybe the NJ government thinks people in NJ can't be trusted and can snap at any given time. I wonder what would happen if there was ever a need for armed citizens to defend a city ? I know down here any enemys wouldn't stand a chance,I have seen the firepower private citizens have here.

Left 20yrs ago never to return.......

"I don't even know why NJ is like that... to be honest, most of the state, as far as I have heard, is a dumping ground for trash from NY... not like NY is that much better. "

Sadly - both NJ and NY ship most of their trash to PA now:cuss: :cuss: :cuss: (interstate commerce ya know)

I'd just as soon tell em to keep their :cuss: **^*%&$^% to themselves!

I already know how, I'm just to lazy to do it as often as I would like a decent slice of pizza :neener:

It's true about the trash from NY coming over here and messing everything up. I would not be surpised to find 40% of the people who moved here (especially to north Jersey) over the last ten years have come from lower New Yak:barf: . And SJG26 - you're right! The eastern part of PA is starting to get the NY overflow from here.
But it's really not just the politico's posturing - A very good indoor range had to close up because 1) the insurance company doubled the building owner's rates, despite the range being there ten years without a mishap; 2) Building owner refused to renew the lease even after the range owners promised to pay the additional fees; 3) no one in the area would rent them space even when they decided to have only a gun shop; 4) they eventually moved out of state. :( So the state loses a source of revenue, we lose a good place to shoot, and two guys running a small business get shafted. The only thing I can smile about is, 2 years later, the landlord still has an empty building.:neener:
Oh, and BTW - I'm not a native Jerseyite - moved here twenty years ago (from CT). Why I did is a long, sad story........but that's for another time.

The former govenor of Pennsylvania put up some billboards a few years ago that said it all - "Welcome to Pennsylvania - America Starts Here!"
