Jersey at it again

"Give a man a fish and he eats for a day; teach a man to fish and he buys a $10,000 boat and spends his weekends sitting in it drinking beer."

Believe ALL of it, my friend. It is all true. NJ recently solicited the public for a state slogan. You may have heard about it on the news. It should have been-
"New Jersey. If you're doing it here, it's probably illegal".

How about "New Jersey: Stalin's not dead everywhere!"

"New Jersey: The other People's Republic."

"New Jersey: Breathe Free! And that's It."

Maybe the NJ government thinks people in NJ can't be trusted and can snap at any given time.

I hear if you keep a pit bull in a small cage with no freedom, small meals, and beat him every day, there's a decent chance he could grow up and "snap" all of a sudden.

Well, the politburo in the PRNJ treats their subjects like that, so maybe they just figured it made sense to follow the equation and pull their teeth ahead of time...

It was just a tad funny that the slogan they picked (and later dumped) had real potential:

"New Jersey: Come See For Yourself"

Come see for yourself what happens when Democrats run all three branches of state government.

Never seen a taxpayer-funded School District that has no students? Come see for yourself.

Never been to a state where government is the largest employer? Come see for yourself.

Never seen your already sky-high property taxes double in 4 years? Come see for yourself.

Never seen a Republican run for Governor on a platform of increased gun control? Come see for yourself.

Think The Sopranos is fiction? Come see for yourself.

They hired a consultant, for a $250,000 fee, to come up with that slogan. Now that's hot

My wife lives in NJ....I live in PA so I can keep my rights! Sure I visit her every weekend and sometimes stay for a week when I have off of work, but until she finds a job in PA and we find a house in PA (probably another year)....I'll only see her a few days a week and will never move my perminant residence to NJ. It still hurts not to be able to shoot in NJ or to have to take off my concealed weapon and lock it up in all sorts of separate boxes whenever I cross the damn bridge.

I really don't get what people like about Jersey pizzas so much. I've had them, and was not impressed. Papa John's is just as good, if not better.

Sadly - both NJ and NY ship most of their trash to PA now (interstate commerce ya know)

Unless it's changed - and the US Supreme Court said it couldn't be changed by law - Virginia was getting the trash Jersey wasn't. Maybe it's changed somehow, I would be overjoyed if it has.

"NJ. You got a problem wit dat" was submitted by Robert DiNero and Joe Pesce ( a couple of New Yorkers). Believe it or not. Would have been much better than the lame slogan they paid $250,000 for.

I didn't realize that slogan was dumped. Does anyone know if there is a new one yet? I'd be happy to come up with one, and I'll only charge $125,000.

Warning: You can't bring a handgun into NJ, even if it's broken down. Here, they use the Patriot Act to search anything they damn well please, so be careful. Real patriotic!

Probable cause is only for states that are not NJ. In NJ, if they don't have probable cause, they just make something up.

By the way, we do make good pizza in NJ, but you need a Permit To Purchase.

Proposed new slogans-

"Welcome to New Jersey! You're Under Arrest!"
"Welcome to New Jersey! FREEZE DIRTBAG!"
"Welcome to New Jersey. Please step out of the vehicle, sir".

It's true about the trash from NY coming over here and messing everything up. I would not be surpised to find 40% of the people who moved here (especially to north Jersey) over the last ten years have come from lower New Yak . And SJG26 - you're right! The eastern part of PA is starting to get the NY overflow from here.

Hey, now you know how we feel in Florida!

Yeah...we're starting to plan our escape also. Pa. is looking better everyday. Just for clarification...it is a Firearms ID that is required for purchase of ammunition, not a hunting license. Of course the requirement for this is :cuss:

Our local association is pushing to have this bill fail, and we have written our representatives to express our views. This would effectively ban any out-of-state competitors from all NJ matches, as well as all the other nonsense it would accomplish. We live about 45 minutes from the Delaware Water Gap, beautiful land, nice mountains and rivers. It is not at all like central/urban NJ, but the laws are getting ridiculous, people keep electing left leaning liberals, and don't even get me started about property taxes :fire:

BTW...South Jersey has it's moments also...Camden, Trenton, Asbury Park just to name a few :neener:

I see no disagreement about the idea that the NJ Gummint is both incompetent and repressive, but this is enough bashing for one thread.

I have no doubt there'll be another Event of Idiocy, soon.
