Went to the store today. Got some stuff, among them, a left-handed holster. It looked about right, and we checked it with a 1911 he had, it was a good fit, about an eighth of an inch space between the close strap and the hammer. I'm sitting here looking at it, and I just now noticed he labeled it as a holster for a Beretta 96. Anyway, since I'm left handed, and was planning on getting a 1911 eventually anyway, I went ahead and got it. For ten bucks, I figured it's a good deal for a used holster, and left-handed stuff like this doesn't tend to wait around. The snap on the strap needs to be replaced, and you can see the impression of the original gun in the leather(once I saw the label, I looked at it again, and it does look like a 96).

It's an Aker, I couldn't find it online(found plenty of the concealed holsters though, I might have to get me one of those), but it hangs on the belt, With the handle coming out about parallel with the belt. It's obviously not for concealed carry unless you're wearing a long heavy coat, but when I get the 1911(and the 92 when I get it), I'll have a way to keep it on my person if I have to. Stamped on the inside of the belt loop is Aker's Trademark, and "116", then "B-96(I assume for "Berretta 96")".

One question though, the leather is a bit stiff, though in good condition. Do I want to saddle soap this, how exactly do I take care of it? I know how to polish boots, but this is new to me.

hehehahahahahaaa....yea i would say so...Prolly a 1 3/4 double thickness MIGHT do the trick...That is alot of holster on that belt... :what:
