Woodchuck, 450 yards with a Bishop-Stocked and glass-bedded Savage 110, 30-06 and 2.5X Weaver scope. I handloaded 150 grain Remington Bronze Points on a CH H-Press with CH dies. It was around 1961, when I didn't know it wasn't possible to shoot woodchucks that far away.

The mound was a refreshed one, on a side hill. Took one shot, corrected for elevation and wind, then hit the chuck as it lay sideways on it's mound. First shot was about 10" low, as I recall.

My spotter still remembers that shot.

600 metres with the Lee Enfield and Swiss M1911 are the most I done and those were with iron sights. I simply can't see any further. Surprisingly with a scope, I only shot up to 300 yards.

400y with my RRA AR-15, 55g Hornady FMJ reloads and a Nikon BDC 3-9x40 scope. Shooting steel and not going for groups. It actually wasn't that hard to do.

985 yds. steel silhouette, SA m1-A, factory iron sights, South African ammo....bang bang bang................ding ding ding.

my farthest was a savage 112BV .22-250 with a 55gr nosler ballistic tip, with a leupold FX_III 12x40mm target scope, it was a groundhog at 722 yards, my farthest at big game was 617 yards at a doe in a strip mine with my weatherby MKV .257 wby mag, and a 100gr TSX, and a leupold FX_III 6x42mm, i had a spotter on both shots, both had a lot to do with luck.

N4Z lmao. 600 meters M14 open sights. 500 meters, M16. I don't recall range of other weapons like the M60, or 50 cal. In, combat, I didn't take time to measure.

I think I hold the National Record for the shot fired the furthest north from the shore of Lake Erie.

Wind conditions were favorable.

I'm not allowed in Canada.

heh, that would be impressive given that lake erie is the impact area for Camp Perry. stand 3000+ guys on a line firing into the lake all day long for a couple weeks, repeat annually for 100 years.

800 or so yards, .50 M2 machinegun mounted on the tail ramp of a MH-53J. About a 100 or so rounds fired. Speed was kind of fast. Left side of my body was hanging over the ramp, and the ocean/mud flats about 100 feet below, as the target was coming up on the left side of the helo. As I was able to engage the target (beached ships and buoys) I swung to the right (gun left) and let her rip. Pretty easy to engage and get hits once you see where the tracers are going.

Same flight; 7.62 Minigun, a lot of rounds (can't really tell when they are being spit out that fast) out left side window, same targets but a little closer range.

They asked who wanted to go flying up to a new range and I raised my hand (was maintenance). We landed once we got up there and picked up the British guy who was in charge of the range and took him up to have a go on the mini's.

600 yards 18" metal plate.

hit with both an M1A loaded with bushnell 4200 6-24x40 and a
Remington 700 CDL .30-06 and a Bushnell 3200 scope.

Since you've specified no howitzers, I'll leave out my time on the M109's. I never really count it anyway since we rarely saw what we were aiming at. We just entered the data and put rounds down range.

Longest range with a rifle, man sized targets at 300m with the beat to heck M-16A2's in the army.

Got to shoot at a remote controlled ariplane with a 50 cal M2, and several trips to the range to qualify with M2, M60, Mk19, etc in the Army buy can't for the life of me remember the ranges. All I really remember is my ear to ear grin every time I got to play with anything that went bang. Luckily, never had to do it for real.

i guess around 400 yds, probably closer to 450, i was way past my 300 yard mark but dont know exact distance...and i hit a 8X18 bbq grill(like in public picnic areas{but not in public}) gun was a ruger MKII in .204 using 40g vmax and my best load yet of 27.1 RL15......i am goin out tomorrow to see how many in a row i can get, same distance except on a 12X12 piece of steel. btw those little bullets are amazing and sear right through the steel(1/4"-3/8") at any range i have shot at so far:neener:

Longest I've ever tried is 500 yards in a friend's back field. I was shooting at a B-27 silhouette with an iron sight M-N 91/30 and hand loads. Didn't have what you'd call a group, more of a pattern, but I put all of my shots into the torso of the target.

I think I hit the next county once with my 91/30.
It could have been the other next county, though...

I still want to get about a 30'x30' target and knock the tangent sight out to 2000M and see what happens

But if I really want to hit something with an actual group I just grab my .243. It makes all kinds of no-effort pretty groups out to the 350yds I've shot it at.

Tree stumps at ~750m with my 91/30. They say be wary of the man with one rifle, true at the time but no longer :)

622 yards, coyote in the Opelousas/Acadia area with a .308 remington 700 VTR. Scope is a Millett 4x-16x tactical.

Hit a 45'x45' green at 300 yards with a 460cc Ping Rapture V2 hitting a Titleist Pro V1.

:D
