Looking for opinions on Ruger's customer support

I'll just mention that if you're looking for a previously owned Ruger, it might help if you used the correct nomenclature.

Assuming that you are looking for the current production take-down semiauto carbine, it is called the PC Carbine. It should avoid confusing with the Ruger PC9 which refers to a prior model carbine...I'd hate to see you find a PC9 only to find it wasn't the carbine you were looking for

Figured I'd write a little bit more about my experience with Ruger's customer service. Years back, I bought an old model Bearcat (aluminum frame) that had a defect in the frame. It was sent to Ruger for inspection, deemed unrepairable and they sent me a new one. A little later on, the Blackhawk I had had some issue that I can't recall- it went off to Ruger and they fixed several issues with it.

Within the past several months, I've had three Ruger revolvers go back to Ruger. All three were purchased used. The first was a Redhawk that had one chamber bc gap that exceeded their tolerances. Unfortunately, they weren't making that Redhawk with the single piece barrel anymore, so they offered my the msrp value of that one towards another revolver with some exceptions. Since the Redhawk was a 45 colt/45 acp, I chose a flattop convertible 45 colt/45 acp which hopefully I'll be getting soon. The next two were both Blackhawks- the first a 357/9mm convertible and the other the 50th anniversary 357. The 357 cylinder for the convertible had endshake that exceeded their tolerances- that was sent in and returned with a new cylinder within two weeks (maybe a little less). The 50th anniversary had a front sight that was slanted a bit too much to the right (overclocked barrel is my guess), and even with the rear sight all the way to the right, it was still left of the target a good 2-3" at 10 yards. That was sent to them on the 2nd of this month and comes back today.

The first four were sent back through the shop I purchased from. The last one I called Ruger and paid $30 for a shipping label. UPS arrived at my house and picked it up the next day.

Again, these were purchased used. Ruger has taken care of me. They are a good company to deal with.

@Swifty Morgan did you send something in to them?

As an aside, my 50th Anniversary Blackhawk came back last night while I was out at the range with my dad and brother. They fixed the barrel issue, adjusted the timing, opened the throat and replaced the baseline (came with the wrong one when I got it). They also included a 15 yard test target.

I did not send anything. I contacted them on the web about the burrs on the handguard of my RPR. I got a form response which appeared to say they would get back to me eventually.

Ah, ok. I'd try calling them up. In my experience response times to online requests is always much slower than calling.

In my experience, Ruger's customer service is better than most, if not all. However, no one is perfect and there will always be someone whose experience will be less than ideal.
