I have a local gun store that ordered a NIB stainless GP100 with a 6 in bbl. It's sitting in the glass case with a set of hogue rubber grips. I asked if the original grips came with it. It seems that those are the grips it came with from the distributor. Is that what Ruger is doing these days or is it a grip switcharoo kinda thing. They want 500.00+tax for it.

Thanks, Flip.

That's how Ruger is shipping GP-100s these days. You might want to pay a visit to rugerforum.com for the discussion over there.

FWIW, I noticed the same thing in the 2008 catalog and thought it an advertising thing w/Hogue. Then, in the case at the gunshop the other day I saw one in the flesh w/Hogues. Told the salesman I had one, but asked to see it. A slow day, he obliged. I am glad I have a 2007 model with the "old" Ruger rubber grips w/wood panels. Like those MUCH better than the Hogues w/figger grooves.

The grips felt good to hold. Asthetically, they aren't as nice looking as the older grips were. I can overcome that because, this is going to be used for shooting handloads. How does the price sound?

Thanks, Flip.

Price seems typical, not good, not bad. I, too, like the Lett grips on my GP100. However, I've put Hogues on my 1911, Ruger MKIII, Ruger MKII and have them on my Ruger P90. I really like them. Ruger has also changed the grips on the Blackhawk. If I bought a new one, I'd have to buy grips for it. I could tolerate the Hogues on a GP100.
