Eco-Terrorist Plans Takeover Of Sierra Club
COLUMBUS, OH—Paul Watson, co-founder of Greenpeace and founder of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, says he's "advocating the takeover of the Sierra Club." Watson says he wants the organization to take a strong stance against hunting, fishing and other management of natural resources.

PeTA Claims Alliance With Sportsmen's Group
COLUMBUS, OH—People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PeTA) published a report last week stating "… the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance, a national lobbying and advocacy group for hunters, has added its voice to PeTA's call for a boycott of pet food maker Iams." The U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance (USSA) says it's encouraging sportsmen to contact the Iams Company concerning its sponsorship of a series of animal shows developed by the Humane Society of the United States, but that call to action isn't related to PeTA's objection to the company's testing pet food on animals.


Anti-Hunting Group Publishes Report On 'Decline Of Hunting'
SILVER SPRING, MD—Following last week's State of the Union address by President George W. Bush, the anti-hunting group Fund for Animals released a report titled "The State of Hunting in America: A Dying Sport."
The Fund claims the report "reveals the decline in hunting that began in the 1970s is continuing unabated in the 21st century, despite intense efforts by the hunting industry to recruit new hunters."

What do they mean plan to take over. Look carefully at the Sierra Club. They could show others how to do it. They buy politicians and judges. Do far more damage that way.

Let me get this straight ... Peta is boycotting IAMS because they test pet food on animals?

Oh, the horror!

What I want to know is how do the other pet food companies test their products? Somewhere, perhaps, there's a warehouse of child laborers with bowls of kibble commenting on how the new blend with more lamb meat is much tastier than those heavy on grains. Plus they've noticed that their hair has a much healthier shine.

Hunters deny PETA union

A national hunter advocacy group, the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance, is mad as an angry grizzly with claims by an animal-rights organization that the two are working hand-in-hand to stop a pet food company's series of animal shows.
Bud Pidgeon, the Sportsmen's Alliance's president, said, "The most outrageous anti-hunting group in the United States is promoting a working relationship with the nation's leading sportsmen's advocacy group when, in fact, none exists."
What happened was that the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) published a report that stated the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance had added its voice to PETA's call for a boycott of pet food maker Iams.
While it is true that the Sportsmen's Alliance is encouraging sportsmen to contact the Iams Company (The Washington Times outdoors column, Jan. 14), the hunters' organization wants to make it clear that its call to action is in no way related to the anti-hunters' objection to the Iams Company's testing of pet food on animals, or to the objectives of any other animal-rights group.
