I never said I was unarmed in the room. Only that I left my pocket cary gun locked in my vehicle. My pocket pistol is a .380, so I usually carry a 1911 .45acp in my luggage.
The Hilton Anchorage also doesn't allow firearms in the rooms. They do have a gun safe to store things in. This includes off duty police and the like, and has resulted in some screaming fits between people and security there. The was largely the result of a SS agent shooting out a plateglass window in one of the junior suites.
Not living in Texas, I just googled an image of the 30.06 sign so I could see one for myself; a question came to mind. Since it prohibits "concealed" weapons, could one enter the hotel if the gun was in an obvious gun case & carried openly? Any gun-savvy Texas lawyers here care to give an opinion?

I don't understand the "concealed means concealed" crowd. they advocate breaking the law. Yes, it's a stupid, draconian law that shouldn't exist, but since it does exist, follow it or you're no better than those who carry illegal weapons, because that is exactly what you are doing when you ignore the signs.
Thank you Hilton Hotels; but I prefer to stay in Motel 6; "where they
always leave the light on for you"~! But, always have your TRUSTED
sidearm; cuz you may get in a little target practice~!
