I’m planning to order a Marvel Conversion Unit 1 to go on my well used Colt series 70 in the near future.

I’d like to see pictures of your 1911’s with your Marvel Unit 1’s installed.

Anyone know the current wait time between order and delivery for these?

Frame built by Dave Salyer. It's a Caspian (Foster) with mostly Les Baer internals. Trigger's about 2.25 pounds. I don't shoot .22 as well as .45, but I'm consistantly in the 830's with this pistol. I haven't had any problems with mine, and I've shot about 1500 rounds through it. It needs cleaned more often than a Ruger, however. I ordered mine from Midway and had it in three days.

Nice looking rig. That's just what I'm looking for. I'll have to give Midway a call. Do you know if they have the kit with both sight rails?

Thanks for the complement!

I don't think they offer a kit with both rails. I bought the kit with the weaver-rail, and bought the Bomar sight rib separately directly from Marvel. I also bought an additional magazine directly from Marvel. I think parts are cheaper directly from Marvel, but the conversion kit was on sale at Midway at the time.

I'm wondering why I bought the Bomar open-sights rib. After using a red-dot for competition I can't see myself going back to open sight.

Nice iron dafitch.

On the marvel site, under 'Ordering', click on 'Complete Order Form' for what they offer in a clearer format.

I got the scope rail and ajustable rail built together in a little over the 6-8 weeks advertised time (for good reason). I'm happy, though I think I will be well pleased once I can use a better frame.

Here she be, shown with the fiber optic front sight and threaded barrel:

Rangegod,

I like that grip safety. What is it?

Will that grip safety fit an unmodified Gov't model frame, or did the rear of the frame have to be modified?

I like that grip safety. What is it?

The grip safety is an Ed Brown unit and no it will not fit an unmodified Gov't model frame. The Essex frame I used was supplied with the proper radius for the Brown safety.

Both frames assembled by Dave Salyer from North Carolina. Setup for NRA Bullseye. Terrific accuracy.

Not a Model 1.....But I placed an order for a model 2 from Marvel on 7/6/07. They sent me a shipping notice on 8/08/07. Should be here this week.

rchernandez-
That's too cool that Dave Salyer put your frames together. Dave built both my .22 and my wad gun. I'm hoping towards the end of the summer I can have him build my hardball gun.

Was that an OD Loaded? Did Dave put in the Wilson frontstrap? He use to put on skateboard tape!
I traded my "Salyer Wad Gun" for an Ed Masaki Ball Gun. We soon have Dave put together another wad gun.
He did a great job with the dedicated frames for the Marvel. Pretty crisp 2.75lb trigger.

Yep- I hated to convert the OD loaded, but I guess it had to be done. If I ever go backwards, I guess I could have the rail holes on the slide filled and refinished. I bought the loaded from a guy standing in line at a gun show, and since the price was right, I thought the loaded was the best candidate for the work.

It started out with the skateboard tape, but I've had good luck with the Wilson FS's so I changed it out.

I think the trigger in my wad gun is a little heavier- it's about 3.5 pounds. I've shot an 861-18x with Dave's wad gun. It will shoot!
