I've settled on getting a Lee reconditioned Pro-1000 from Lee's website for 80.00. It won't come with dies unlike the new kit does. Besides dies, what else is absolutley needed to get started besided primers, bullets, and powder.

Robert.

An accurate scale and current reloading manual to match the brand of bullets you buy!

Absolutely required for starters.

a caliper of some sort(dial or electronic) to measure your completed rounds
a max cartridge gauge
Does the reconditioned unit come with the case feeder and the powder feeder?

Check out the Lee 1000 Progressive at Natchez or Midsouth ( I don't remember which) They are selling the complete kit for $113.00

Might be cheaper for the new one once you add dies and accessories.

Smoke

smoke said what I was hinting at. If it doesn't come with all of the goodies, a brand new one would be more cost effective

Friday is payday

I'll give them a call friday and find out if it comes complete and ask about what else will be needed.

Robert.

Not knowing what is coming when you buy your reconditioned PRO 1000 PRESS . You will need carbide pistol dies cat. price $ 30.98, shell plate(like a shell holder)cat. price$20, auto disc powder measure cat. price $27.98. This added to you $80 press comes to $158.99 and you still may need shell feeders and cartridge tubes. CABELAS (www.cabelas.com ) and MIDWAY USA (www.midwayusa.com) both have free catalogs and complete kits ,dies and all, ready to go for $123.99 to $129.99. I would reconsider your reconditioned purchase.

When I bought my Lee Reconditioned Pro 1000 they came with the dies of my choice. You might want to call Lee to check and see if the dies are included. The number is 262-673-3075 .

I just bought a reconditioned Pro1000 from Lee a couple weeks ago. It came with dies. It's no Dillon, but mine has been working great once I figured out a couple little quirks. You can't beat getting a complete progressive press ready to load with dies and case feeder for $84 delivered.

That price may be high....

Go to Ebay or look on the forums. Buy a ragged used up Dillon missing parts or what ever.... As cheap as you can. Dillon will make it right for free. I know I just went this route.

I do not know how Dillon is able to remain profitable treating buyers of used and abused equipment like they were greatly loved first time buyers or new top of the line equipment.

One thing for sure I am a TOTALLY LOYAL dillon user.

I didn"t know about the recon. pro 1000 till reading here.
I already had one and like it .
Called and got one so I could have 1 for large and 1 for small primers
