Not one bad comment so far about Ruger's reliability, and I'm not gonna break the string! I've had a P89 for about 8 years and have had ZERO problems. I decided on the P90 when I wanted to add a .45 - bought it just a few months ago. I considered a Glock 21, but the grip was much bulkier than the Ruger (btw, I have Hogue grips on both of them - makes a BIG difference! I consider my hands to be medium-sized, and have no problems with the grip). Also btw, I bought both pistols used. The P90 had some initial feeding problems, but Ruger's customer service sent me a new extractor, for free, and after I put it in, the feeding problems disappeared. (when I took out the old extractor, I could see it was just slightly bent). I've been looking at 1911's recently, and admit I do like their sleek and sexy design, but I just can't justify spending $700+ for a "show off" pistol when I am completely satisfied with my P90, which cost half as much. After just a couple of times at the range, I am surprised how accurate it is. I like to shoot out at 25 yards, and I'm not a great shot, but I can still get better than 3" groupings at that distance.
