OK, i''ve been threatening to get a model 60 for a couple years now,i recently scored a great scope for it, i've even found a place that has the stainless/synthetic version i've long been hunting, the money's not an issue,so don't ask me why i don't have it yet.
Anyway, i did some Googling, and surprise, surprise, got little more than annoyed. I did manage to find out that the receiver is grooved. So, i'm looking for recommendations on scope rings. I have a Weaver V7 2.5-7 X 32.
As always, any help muchy appreciated.......M.

Just run down to the nearest Wal-Mart. You'll find a set of rings from very inexpensive to mid range in price that will do well on the 60.

I bought a set from Wal Mart that look like those. They allow for open sights if you want to. Just make sure you buy a higher quality b/c these receivers can allow for serious slippage during shooting and it will scrape/scar up the finish and take the scope off target.

You won't like the see throughs, they put the scope too far above the receiver and make it difficult to shoot. Don't get cheap on the rings either, their the heart of the deal. I love Millett's, all steel, 3 heights available and have plenty of windage adjustment. They also have hex screws so you don't screw up the heads during installation.

I have the see through rings and they make the rifle usable from really close to out as far as the bullet is effective. I put a 3x9x32 on mine and I can see bullet holes I made at 115-120 yards. I'd like an slightly more powerful scope on it. Marlin 60s are accurate rifles that bloom with a good scope.

BTW, how does a slightly elevated scope make shooting more difficult, anyway? It's just slightly different, not innately inferior. Parallel is parallel, it would seem. I like having my sights useable. It's a utility thing with me. I like getting both.

If the scope is too high it's hard to get a good cheek weld. They're not inherently less accurate or anything like that, they just make it harder to get a good shooting position.
