I have determined 100% that my binding disconnector is a result of protrusion into the mag well. I placed a block of wood against the hole inside the magwell and could not push down the disconnector with my thumb. then putting my little finger over the hole I can feel the disconnectors edge push on my finger as I push the disconnector down.
with loose fitting mags this is not a problem, gun function tests fine and shoots fine. With tight colt mags this is a problem.
how should I fix this? Should I detail strip and sand down the sharp edge on the disconnector that is protruding, or just find mags that don't cause the problem.
Also, how does this occur? I find it hard to believe this was the way the gun was off the line in 1953...is something put together wrong, or could it be that something else is pushing it out of place?
Again the gun function perfectly with the loose mag that came with the pistol.
thanks again for the help.
