Sling-Shooting Pointers

I just received my PLR-16 pistol, and installed the Kel-Tec single point sling.

I have no plans on using it for carrying purposes, but have been informed it works well as a substitute for a stock, but using tension pushing away rather than tucking into the shoulder.

I assume that single shoulder is the preferred method? And about how far out should one adjust the sling ideally?

To the most comfortable length for you.
Some folks use it over/around the dominate shoulder others diagionally across the body. Just make sure YOU are comfortable while shooting

Ah, so its really just a personal preference thing. I ask as I know when it comes to stances most tend to agree there are right ways and wrong ways to position your body, with some experts getting very specific about exactly how the gun should be held and was curious if that translated to sling-shooting as well.

I've used something similar, only around the neck and a two hand hold. It's amazing how much stability it adds.

I'd just try and see what works best for you. Problem with over one shoulder though is that you may have trouble keeping it on without a coat over it, and then that becomes problematic too. Across the chest might work better, and I've carried M4's with single points that way, but not with a sling like that. That one looks like it would be more comfortable around one arm. Tactical Tailor makes the single point I have and it has bungee material in it that connects the rifle to the part that goes around the body. Uses a SAW style clip to connect to the rifle, and the part that goes around the body is very wide.
