As stated earlier I am about to get me a new ruger sp101 2 1/4" and was wondering if any one out there could tell me of some good holster iwb and owb that they have used and also dose any one pocket carry this gun I am thinking of getting a pocket holster for this gun so I can carry it easier during the hot summer days. I would most likely be carrying this gun iwb most of the time and would like any pictures of the actual gun being carried iwb that you may have.

I carry either of my SP-101's both 2" & 3" in this Tucker gunleather Heritage model IWB.

OWB carry is done with a Don Hume OT 721 as seen here with the 3" gun.

Sorry...but I do not have any pictures with then being worn.

I carry my 2-1/4" Ruger SP my Smartcarry. It works well for any kind of overdress and, now that the weather is getting warmer, works exceptionally well under a pair of shorts.

This is a pic of the Ruger, the Smartcarry, a Cold Steel Vaquero Grande and a speed strip.

You asked about the Ruger as a pocket carry and, when I tried it, I just found it too doggone heavy to be practical. FWIW:)

I use this one from Hoffners. It's a Mirage IWB holster and hold the gun high and the cylinder above the belt.

Thanks ric, dairycreek, and bigmike45 I really like the picks .ric could you tell me if your 101 is a 2 1/4" or not and ridding that high dose it fill secure with out a thumb break. I have always carried a Springfield 5" iwb in a comp-tac and felt secure but has a long barrel past belt to help hold it but was not sure with one that high and short barrel

I have to second revolverman357.
I carry my 3" SP101 in an AKJ Concealco IWB holster, and I absolutely love it!!! I am not a big guy (6"tall, but 165 lbs with a 32" waist), but it makes the relatively largeish gun disappear on me. I love the thing.
The holster is really top notch! FANTASTIC deal for the money. And Andy Johnson is the nicest guy there is. period.

Most of the time my DAO SP101 disappears in a Uncle Mikes #3 in my jeans front pocket...Just have to make your belt REAL tight...Been thinking about trying a Mika pocket holster because of the rave reviews.

I use a Mitch Rosen "Workman" I find it the most comfortable I've tried for this gun. His stuff is also nop nothc. Excellant quality and craftmanship.

I also have a SP 101 - I have an IWB, paddle holster, belt holster and pocket holster for it - different moods, different holster. The ones I like the best are made by Wild Bill - http://www.wildbillsconcealment.com/

Check out the 'specials' - these are the items he keeps in stock for quick shipping.

An yes, I do pocket carry the SP 101.

I use Milt Sparks PMK holsters for OWB carry as my preferred carry method for my SP101 snubbies. (I use a PMK for a Speed Six, also.) If for some reason, such as belt loop placements, dictates otherwise, I will use the Galco Concealable for OWB. For pocket carry, and an SP101 requires big pockets, sturdy pants, and a good belt, I prefer Kramer as first choice, but also use Galco and Uncle Mike's, depending on the shape of the pocket. For the somewhat rare times I use IWB with an SP101, I have an Alessi IWB with the Talon belt clip. I also sometimes use an Eagle Industries IWB, but it is a model no longer available. Regarding pocket carry, please be aware that once a fight starts, it can be quite difficult to gain access to that pocketed weapon; front pockets are blocked due to body position, and hip pockets are stretched tighter than when standing upright. Cargo pockets may seem ideal, but try carrying a heavy item in most cargo pockets, and they will beat you to death while walking. I am not against pocket carry, just warning that it does have drawbacks.
