CMF = the CheckMate Patented Follower. It is similar to the folded Devel follower used in Chip McCormick's mags, but it has a front bent leg (often called a "bullnose") that keeps the follower from tilting forward out of the tube after the last round. That's something the McCormick followers are known to do.What is "CMF"? controlled magazine feed or something?
Lots of folks like the hybrid feed lips, or if they are shooting ball ammo, the GI feed lips from CheckMate. I've had better luck with their wadcutter feed lips, and I primarily shoot ball ammo. They do make a good mag in general, but the only thing I won't buy from them again is a non-extented tube 8 rounder. They are really too short for 8 rounds.
Wilson has good mags throughout their line-up, but if you are making a pecking order within their line-up, the 47D's are at the bottom. The 7 round 47 is the same tube length as the 47D. I would expect more consistent function over a longer period of time from the 7 round 47 vs the 8 round 47D. I believe the 47 is the mag the USMC purchases for their 1911's. If you must have an 8 rounder, the ETM is a longer tube 8 rounder and is the better 8 round mag than the 47D's. Wilson now has the ETM HD/+P with a flatware spring, that is their top 8 round mag.
