Damn, I really wanted to like the gun, I went to buy it and ended up leaving without one. The drawback? After picking it up and handling it, the grip was just not nearly as comfortable as the XD-40 or XD-9.
By looking at it only, it doesn't look much larger, some but not much. My hand doesn't envelope the grip as much which makes the whole gun have a different feel. Don't get me wrong, it's still a nice feel but not the perfect feel of the smaller gripped XD's. Granted feel is relative, all our hands are different but I have above average sized hands, fairly meaty and the grip still felt too big in comparison to the others.
If I didn't already have an XD in .40S&W I imagine I would have bought it. But I left with the feeling that if I bought the XD-45, it would have been my stepchild, I would like my current 4" service model XD better.
If they make a .45ACP sub compact night sight version, I'll be on it though. I don't have one of those.
