Back in the Civil War, some of the most accurate rifles in the Confederate arsenal were Whitworth target rifles, pressed into service for long-range sniping. The bullets for these were polygonal in cross section to match the polygonal rifling of the Whitworth's barrel. I guess these would qualify as "rifled bullets."[Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it was the barrels that were rifled, not the Minie balls themselves? I don't ever remember seeing a "rifled bullet".]
