You’re limited to 8 rounds, what’s your choice?

Yes, it is heavy but shoots well.

I would probably go back to carrying a Colt Combat Commander in .45 ACP and use a 7 rd. magazine, with two 8 rd. magazines for the reload.

If a 9 rd. magazine can be used but can only be loaded with 8 rds., I would consider a Colt Commander in .38 Super with two magazines, along with a 9mm. barrel assembly also with two 9mm. magazines.

Charlie 98 --- Ditto for my Kahr K9, except my 8rd extended mag is very reliable and would carry as a spare mag.

I have them in my BOB, or in the truck console. When I carry them, the top 3 rounds always seem to pop out... Having said that, once they are in the gun, they are as reliable as the others.

I carried either a Kahr CM9 or CW9 for years. I sold them both when I got a P365. I would not have a problem going back to either one. I recently picked up an XDS 45 mod 2 that would also fill the bill. An LCP Custom would ride along in my front pocket as it usually does now.

I did not see a limit on number of reloads. That puts me at 10mm on 1911 frame with 4 reloads of 8 rounds each. More than one should ever need but I can

Assuming I was going to comply with such a thing, these are what I would likely carry.

357 mag revolver
45 acp 1911
38 spl J frame
Glock 26 with compliant mags

I might consider adding a Glock 43 or 36 and maybe a S&W Shield.

If forced to limit the number of rounds, I don't think I'd carry a 1911. Even though I like the 1911 I don't really care to carry them, for me it would still be a Glock and just as it is now, either in .40 or .45. The only real difference would be that I would make sure to always carry a reload or two with me. Maybe something like the occasional small .380 like a G42 at times too depending on concealment desires.

Same Shield 1.0 in 9mm for carry. For service pistol size either a 1911 style or Glock 45 ACP or a Sig P220 10mm, whichever I could shoot better. A Glock 20 or 40 in 10mm might also do the trick.

My usual EDC is a S&W Shield 9x19mm (8+1 Capacity) with a Apex trigger system and night sights. Occasionally a S&W M640 38Spl.

Title says it. Let’s say government restricts you to 8 rounds. So... 7 in the mag and 1 in the pipe, or 8 rounds max in a revolver. Mags modified to only take 7 rounds on originally higher cap mags.

Do the Glock boys still pack a Glock? Do the 9mm boys stick with it? Do the auto boys stick with an auto?

Curious as to what everyone chooses.

From what I have now, revolver (which is almost all of what I carry now), or XDS9 (7 round short mag). Might see if I could find a 4" XDS 45, and carry with the full length (7 rounds of .45) magazine.

Lets hope we never get to that.

If forced immediately I'd slide back into my well proven xds 9mm. Due to the law of unintended consequences I would probably feel forced into a more powerful cartridge, probably a 10mm, either in a revolver cut for moonclips or whichever semi auto felt the best. Or maybe a s&w 627.

If a new 8rd restriction were to come about, I'd choose the same calibers I did when the previous 10rd restrictions occurred, meaning 9, .40, .45, .38SPL & .357MAG. I'd leave out the .44MAG this time, since it can offer potentially too much risk of threat perforation in urban environments.
