I would love to know what you all would do, firearm related, with $1,000 cash. May help me decide to do with the cash I forgot about in a credit union account I recently closed.

I would buy me a nice .308 Bolt Action Rifle. Or a Colt 1911 but I am dieing to get me a Colt Python .357 Mag 6' bbl.

I would opt for that Python if I had the change to do so. But of course, That begs the question...

What is this gun you wanna buy for? CCW? Hunting? Range?

As for me about the Python, I just want it. It's a beautiful revolver and has class on its own.

Personally, I'd get a Sig P226 (high on my list, no judgements please ;)), or add it to the "saving for a Nighthawk Fund" (also high on my list).

....on a lighter note, you could stock up on ammo to prepare for the zombie apocalypse (after all, the world is now supposed to end on Dec 12th or something like that).

Reloading dies and components for the calibers I own. Then I'd load and shoot until the $1,000 was gone.

I'd get either Colt Defender 1911 or a CZ P-01 w/night sights and a lot of ammo. I held both of them the other night at Cabela's and like them both for CCW.

Maybe a Browning Hi Power, preferably in Digital Green Camo. I have to see what I'm missing with the Hi Power.

I'd replace the Remington 870 I sold back when I was an idiot. Then I'd buy a bunch of ammo, spare parts, extra magazines and maybe upgrade the sights on a few of my pistols that still have stock factory sights on them.

Myself, I'd get a Trijicon TR20-2 3x9 mildot scope and top notch QR mount for my RRA A4 national match. If I had enough left over, a good quality sling.

Put it towards a good safe if you don't already have one, but have guns that need to be in one.

If I were you, I would do one of two things: Either buy a nice rifle like an AR15 or get a high end pistol.

For example I would get a nice AR15 M4 Carbine as those are very easy to build and customize.

OR

You can get a nice pistol like a Kimber or Colt 1911, or HK USP etc.

Those would be my suggestions. of course, it would depend on what you're into in regards to firearms.

Mark,

It might help to know what categories you already have filled or what you've always admired to make suggestions beyond "howdah pistol".

If you already have examples of all the categories then training is the best thing you can spend your money on so that you can use what you have better.

I'd buy a SP101 DAO, a single stage reloading press, and get myself started into reloading. With the rest I'd buy components for reloading.

1000 is enough money to do a lot with in the gun world; but the big choice comes down to (as said) how you are already outfitted. A safe middle road would be to split the cash in two and use 500 toward a very nice single item/weapon/tool and the rest toward your stockpile of ammo, spare parts, and such. Especially if you don't think you'll see such a windfall for a while, this methodology will help ensure you don't end up with buyers remorse later on.
