I'm interested!! Thanks for the heads up. I'm curious what caliber etc. they will pick. I would imagine it'll be a 357 mag, but who knows. Also the add says something about concealed carry, but it's a six shot. Perhaps a short barreled "k" or "L" sized frame. Can't wait for next week.

Glad to see a big name entering the wheelgun market. Whatever they do will be good for the revolver niche. As much as I hate to say it, that niche is getting pretty stagnate. Everything is focused on 2 categories, belly guns and big bores. I want a nice new gun with something special in the mid-bore, duty size...seems that's too much to ask though. We shall see what the big K has to offer.

Yes, but even in a market where painting the same gun a different color is 'revolutionary,' it's realllllly stretching the definition of the word to apply it to a gun that you didn't invent whose basic technology is over 200 years old.
But.. But... the cylinder isn't round!
I was interested until I read "concealed carry". Makes me think it will be too small to be of interest to me.

It would be a pretty expensive and risky venture to design and build a revolver from the ground up. What are the chances that Kimber is importing this revolver from a competent revolver maker overseas?
It looks like they're using a little of the flat sided cylinder like seen in the Chiappa Rhino. Since the ad mentions concealed carry I bet they're going for the 6 round snub market that pretty much dried up after Colt dropped the DS , excluding the Ruger LCR 327. I bet they focus on a cylinder width not much more than a five rounder while giving you one extra round. Wouldn't be a bad idea, don't know if I trust Kimber to pull it off.

I didn't run out and order that one either. I will wait for the review, hopefully by hickok45.
Remember that these are the folks who sell full sized 1911s, ostensibly for concealed carry. I don't think "concealed" or "carry" necessarily means small to Kimber. It might mean "compact" though. One of my two Kimbers is a CDP II Custom Compact, 4" barrel, officer grip.
If they wanted to suit the acclimation of 45 ACP people, they would do a 5 shot 44 Special, 3" barrel like my Smith 696 that S&W dropped.
What may be more likely is a gun that would sell to law enforcement but most probably a 9mm competition gun with moon clips, thinking more in terms of ammo availability.
What the world probably doesn't need is another 357 Magnum, except to pick up where S&W current production is shunned because of its lock system. Others have made the point that Kimber's gun is likely to have its own lock.

Well, now. That would make the caliber favor 327 MAG. That would surely be a good thing, even more so with optional barrel lengths.

I hope they would stay along the lines of a "traditional" revolver. Personally I would prefer a rimmed cartridge. A typical revolver round. There are so many variables, it has the potential to do really well, or flop very badly. I'm hoping they bring out a winner. It'd be nice to have a well built Kimber revolver to go with my 1911

Probably looking at the California market, where new semi-autos can't be put on the safe handgun roster, nor can any in and grandfathered, cannot be modified without microstamping. Some believe over time, CA will be a revolver state.

The only thing they could possibly do to wrest any CCW market from the dominant LCR would be a new modern auto ejection top break

With no discernable "step" in the chambers for headspacing a rimless round, it appears it will be a traditional revolver rimmed cartridge anyway. I just hope that it doesn't end up looking like a Rhino.
