Took my service grade Springfield M1 Garand out to the gravel pit, for the first time in at least two years. Distance was 85 or so yards, course of fire; 5 standing unsupported, 5 sitting w/ sling, 5 prone w/ sling.

I am impressed with this group, I don't remember being able to hold the black like that before. I did have trouble charging the rifle, need some more practice on that.

Sorry about the sideways photo, can't seem to fix it.

The M1 Garand is just one of those rifles I find enjoyable and relaxing to shoot. Glad you enjoyed the day out and nice grouping for 85 yards.

If you ever get a chance, get a big target such as a painted 19" plate or keg barrel and set it out at 500-600 yards.
You will be surprised how quickly you start to get hits with the old M1

If you are interested The NRA High Power Rules has a section devoted to the targets used including dimensions. Start looking around Page 14. The link is overall pretty informative reading.
