I've posted this photo before, but here's mine (not your Grandpa's Garand...):

CMP field grade, Greek return 1965 Springfeld-Parkeizing is great, except for near the last 2-3 inches of the barrel, great shooter, and the stock cleaned up pretty good, so Im happy.

The funny thing is I'm more of an AK and Warsaw pact guy at heart. But you have to love the rifle that won WWII for us!

my bluesky import from Korea with photos of my dad in Korea, though he is holding a carbine in the photo he carried a Garand also so he says.

Yes I know the south Korean flag is upside down,my mistake.

Probably NOT what you meant, but here is how my project Garand looks at the moment, awaiting some parts :D :

It is a 1.3 million SA, no import markings and in decent shape, so I picked it up as a fine restoration candidate.

Ignore the dirty floor, its the extra room my gun stuff gets thrown in :p

These pictures could make a grown man go to tears! These are beautiful rifles!

are those CMP stocks Wrench?

The second from the bottom is a Wenig, the other three are original. The light colored stock is a beech, from a Greek return. I sanded the &^%$ out of it, to get it down to a more 'USGI' size. It looks swell now...:)
I think yours looks excellent!!

are the beech stocks heavier or lighter?

they sure do look nice...

I have seen a couple maple and one cherry stock on the M1... i think those lighter woods look very nice... any idea who is making new custom stocks for these?

I haven't weighed them....the beech feels about the same, though beech is usually heavier.
I think the M1 is just a handsome rifle, they look nice in whatever we cloth them in.
I really like the look of those laminated stocks....may have to buy another M1, just to get one of those stocks.:D
