Just kidding but was a little bored this morning so I broke out the nail polish....

After shooting my sr1911 for the first time and trying out my p01's new sights from CGW I came to two conclusions 1, white Dot on the front sight is OK,but leaves something to be desired. And 2, not a fan of three dot sights, too distracting for my eyes. So took some nail polish remover and got rid of the white dots on the sr1911's rear sight. Cleaned up the front sight ,hit the front sights with a light qtip full of polish removed, scratched the softish paint to help it stick and gave it 4 coats of that bright yellow green. Nice improvement and only cost a few bucks to do. KIMG0304.JPG KIMG0303.JPG

I'm with Cooldill in that I prefer to use enamel paint as it seems to last longer. Also good idea starting with a base coat of white and then finishing with a couple of applications of clear coat.

I'm not sure why manufacturers insist on 3 dot sights. They're fine on an SD pistol if they glow in the dark but for a range gun they're totally useless. I had a gold bead installed on the front sight of my Gold Cup. It didn't have dots on the rear so now all I see is the front when I shoot. Dots on the rear are a huge distraction.

Sounds like you solve a problem most everyone complains about.
